While at the Academy you were the quiet leader & encourager for your younger classmates. As they continue in their career, you will still be that quiet leader & encourager as they look back and remember their times with you. Keep watch over your brothers & sisters as we carry on with our valiant duty.

Officer Saffran, may God bless you for the ultimate sacrifice. You fought a good fight and took a very dangerous person off the streets forever. Because of your sacrifice he will never be able to harm anyone else. May God bless your family and friends while they grieve. God will give them comfort in prayer. Your brothers and sisters will take care of your family. Be the Angel that you are and look out for the rest of us left on this Earth.

My brother Mike was the best person I knew. When he retired from the Navy he told me he was thinking of being a cop. I actually tried to talk him out of it, I thought he should take a cushy desk job and make a lot of money. That wasn't Mike's style. He wasn't a 9 -5 kind of guy. He was a jump in with both feet, get your hands dirty kind of guy. Even though his career was short, he loved being a cop. He did his job without fear or hesitation and with plenty of common sense. We couldn't be any more proud of him than we are. Not only for his accomplishments in the Navy and on this job but because of the person he was. He was the BEST and I will miss him every day for the rest of my life.

Mike: You protected the citizens of this city. It is not because you died that you are a hero. It is because of the way you lived. Thank you for the inspiration. Thank you for the example. There is no greater friend than the one who gives his life. We will remember you always. We pray that your family and friends will be healed by Him who shall wipe away every tear. You are missed.

The Lord bless you and keep you
The Lord lift His countenance upon you,
And give you peace, and give you peace;
The Lord make His face to shine upon you,
And be gracious, and be gracious;
The Lord be gracious, gracious unto you.

Officer Saffran,

I truely regret never getting to meet you in life. I can only remember you as a sequence of numbers as I signed you on. When your shift (and my husbands) came on to releave mine, I would smile to myself because I liked your last name. Yes, Saffran and saffron are not the same, but I would still get a mental picture of a brilliant Golden glow. How could I have ever guessed how shockingly that visual pun would hold true. You were truely Gold. You gave the greatest gift and made the greatest sacrifice.

You will never be forgotten U1310, your name will always shine as Gold in my mind.

You will be sorely missed
