Robin was not only a great police officer, she was a great mother, friend and just a great person. Those of us who knew her will miss her smile and her silly laugh. She lit up the room when she walked in. I imagine right now, she's got a smile on God's face.

The Dash
I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend...
He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning...to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears...but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on Earth, and now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not how much we own, the cars, the house, the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard. Are there things you'd like to change? You never know how much time is left that can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough to consider whats true and real, and always try to understand the way other people feel. And be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more. And love the people in our lives like we have never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile...remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.
So....when your eulogy is being read, with your life's actions to rehash, would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent your dash?

Every day I visit this sight and every day I pray that there will not be any new names added to the list. Today, in Dekalb County, Georgia, we lost one of our beloved police officers who was riding his own motorcycle, minding his own business. For every one we read here, there are just as many corageous men & woman in blue who lose ther life off duty. We feel that pain just as well. THANK YOU, Officer Robin Vogel, for keeping US safe and may God give your son and family the strength to carry on. Another Angel to watch over us!!

The Gift
Sherry Flynn
They walk a beat of concrete and stone,
They drive through the city in a car, alone.
They swallow their pride, their prejudice, their grief,
They deal with all kinds, from preacher to theif.
Sometimes they get weary, from fighting this fight,
To punish the wrong and defend the right.
Defending a sacred creed and code,
Of freedom and justice, they bear the full load.
You don't ever see them for what's deep inside,
The pain, the anger, or many tears they've cried.
For you, for me, and others in fear,
Seldom a "Thank You", do they ever hear.
If you could look at their heart, just once,
You would see,
Their own life is the gift given to you and me.
Thank you Officer Vogel for your service and your ultimate sacrifice. God Bless you and your family in this tragic time. Please watch over your brothers and sisters in blue from your post in heaven.

To the family and fellow officers of Robin Vogel:
My heart goes out to each and everyone of you.
It is never an easy thing when you loose someone you love. Especially another officer who puts their life on the line each and every day.
We to are laying one of our own to rest today. Sgt Dan McCluskey was a 29 yr veteran of this department.
Our prayers will be with your family and department.
Robin, keep a close watch over all of us and may you rest in peace.
