"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" - John 15:13 - . Officer Vogel ... Robin dearly loved her job. She was a dispatcher turned police officer, but more importantly, she was friends with everyone ... she was my frined. She was a caring, compassionate as a dispatcher for the Springfield Police Department prior to becoming a sworn officer and she carried these traits with her as she protected and served the citizens of Decatur. At no time was she ever to busy to answer the cry for help, lend a hand to those who needed assistance or listen to those that merely needed an open ear and mind. Robin gave her all in an effort to protect her fellow men and women from wrong and in doing so, paid the ultimate price so that her fellow men and women can dwell in a better world. Robin, my dear friend, you, your bright eyes and warm comforting smile will be missed greatly but eternally remembered!

The world has lost the physical presence of another great Officer. Yet the spiritual aspect will live on forever in the hearts of all. You will never be forgotten. We cannot thank you enough for all you have accomplished. As I continue on with my journey into Law Enforcement, I take heavily into my heart, that my friends, brothers and sisters, like you in heaven, are watching over. God Bless.

I still remember Robin's first day on the street. She and her FTO backed me up on a drug stop and when the suspect started to resist, she jumped right in without any hesitation. That impressed me from the beginning and for the remainder of her time with us she kept my respect. The halls of the Law Enforcement Center will be much more dim and dreary without you.

A POLICE OFFICER'S PRAYER

Lord I ask for courage

Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...

Courage to take me
Where others will not go...

I ask for strength

Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...

I ask for dedication

Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...

Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...

And please Lord

Through it all
Be at my side...

To the family of Officer Vogel, Your loved one died doing the most honorable job on earth. As the police we are the champions of the down trodden and defenders of the meek. While reading the other reflections from those that knew your loved one, its obvious Robin was doing just that.
To the police family of Robin remember, we have the best job in America. Carry on the tradition and level of professionalism that Officer Vogel set and God Bless us all.
