Reflections for Deputy Sheriff James Timothy White

Thank you for your service and a job well done, and making this a safer place to live. Having gone through the pain of losing my son, I can sympathize with your pain.. May God comfort your family during this time. My thoughts and prayers are with you, asking God to give you comfort & strength through the long days and nights ahead.

Tim ..... it has taken a few days for this to set in. One day you are here, ready to go home to you family and the next ..... well you went home for good.

We'll miss you greatly. You were an asset to Hall County and I always was glad when you could stop by and see us. The ER staff said today, no matter how bad a day they had, when you stopped in, you cracked a smile and a joke that was contagous.

You were a true Warrior, Brother, in every sense of the word. Your tour of duty here is over. The fine men and women of Hall County and the City of Gainesville will take it from here.

I'll say one more thing. You died in my house and I feel we let you down. You'll know what I mean.

Here is that little saying that hangs on my wall. I know you liked it because you would not leave my office till I made you a copy.

"A Warrior can lose,
But will never be defeated.

A Warrior can be beaten,
But will never be conquered.

A Warrior can die,
But will never perish.

The greatest Warrior can in one hand, grip the hilt of the mightiest sword, while in the other, caress the hand of the smallest child.

The true Warrior receives no payment or thanks, nor does he expect it.

His pain is often his reward and his scars are often his medals,

For he has earned them."

Rest in Peace, Brother. You did one hell of a job!

Timbo....
I remember those nights we sat side by side in our patrol cars telling war-stories waiting for calls to come in. When they did, you were the first to say "let's go get-em", always leading the way. The Department loves and misses you very much.

Tim,the old guard lost one of its own. You were always there to support your brothers, but this time you've gone ahead. You always stood when it got tough and that means something in todays world. You were always a man to be counted on, never left an officer in need. I'll see you again in due time. Until then, my prayers will be for the comfort of your family and my memories will be of your quick wit and unwaivering devotion. Rest easy, you won't be forgotten.

Sgt. Mike Cooper

It has been my honor to have worked under Lt. Tim White. He was funny, light hearted and dedicated to his work. Most of all a loving father, that, "Glowed" when his wife and children were around him. Lt., you will be missed. My prayers are with your family.

Words can hardly express the hurt and empty lost feeling over Tim having been taken from us. I can only trust that it somehow part of God's plan and hold on to the times shared with Tim. His quick laugh, sense of humor, good advice, and his friendship. I will miss Tim.

Sgt. Chris Tempel

Tim was a close friend of mine. A real caring person. Not only that but he was deticated to his family and his department. He was always cordial and a loving guy. I will love and miss him.

TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord ! Keep the day/night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent upon me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. *** REST IN PEACE ***

Tim, I had the opportunity to work with you in our detention center and most recently on patrol. I've always admired your unique personality and the way that you handled the most stressful of situations with ease. You had such a vast knowledge from your many years in public safety and were always willing to share that in order to help those of us with less experience. Thank you Tim, we will always remember you.

"I'M A POLICEMAN"

I'M A POLICEMAN. OH WHY? YOU MIGHT ASK.
IT'S NOT THAT THE PAY IS WELL WORTH THE TASK.
IT'S SOMETHING DEEP DOWN, IT'S SOMETHING INSIDE.
IT'S NOT JUST A JOB WHERE YOUR THERE FOR THE RIDE.
THE DANGERS WE FACE, WE KNOW THEY'RE FOR REAL.
BUT IT'S NOT JUST A JOB, IT'S SOMETHING WE FEEL.

WE'RE OUT ON THE BEAT, IT'S LATE AT NIGHT,
THIS IS THE TIME THAT FAMILIES FIGHT.
SHOUTING AND CURSING, THEN COMES A HIT,
A LOUD SCREAMING CHILD, A MAD RAGING FIT.
WE COME ON THE SCENE AND THERE'S NO SET PLAY,
WE JUST HAVE TO ASSESS WITH OUR FEARS PUSHED AWAY.

THERE'S DARTING EYES AND ANOTHER DOOR,
CAN WE SEE ALL THE PEOPLE OR ARE THERE MORE?
A BANG AND A CRASH COME FROM THE BACK,
IS SOMEONE ELSE THERE TO TAKE A CRACK?
WE TAKE CONTROL BUT IT'S NEVER EASY,
THE MESS AND THE PEOPLE CAN MAKE YOU FEEL QUEASY.
WE RETURN TO THE BEAT AND HOPE IT'S ALRIGHT,
BUT WE KNOW WE'LL BE BACK FOR THE VERY NEXT FIGHT.

A RED LIGHT RUNNER AND A SIMPLE CHASE,
BUT WE NEVER KNOW WHAT WE ARE SOON TO FACE.
ANOTHER BAD DRUNK? A KID ON A HIGH?
OR SOMETHING MUCH WORSE TO GIVE US A TRY.
WE CAN'T TAKE IT EASY, WE CAN'T TAKE A CHANCE,
ALWAYS A NEW TUNE, ALWAYS A NEW DANCE.

THERE'S A RACIAL TENSION AND RIGHTS TO UPHOLD,
WE HAVE TO SHOW PATIENCE BUT YET APPEAR BOLD.
IT'S EASIER TO SAY "ALL MUST BE FAIR"
WHEN YOU'RE NOT ON THE STREET,WHEN YOU'RE NOT THERE.
THOSE FEELINGS OF PRESSURE WE MUST PUT ASIDE,
WITH OUR ACTIONS UP FRONT AND KEEPING OUR PRIDE.

IT'S HARDER ON MY FAMILY THAN IT IS ON ME,
THEIR IMAGINED WORST FEAR IS ALL THAT THE SEE.
I'M ON THE JOB AND HANDLING IT WELL,
BUT THEY'RE AT HOME IMAGINING HELL.
WHEN THE TELEPHONE RINGS AND IT'S LATE AT NIGHT,
THEY WAKE IN A SWEAT AND A TERRIBLE FRIGHT.
BUT THEIR AWFUL THOUGHTS I MUST LEAVE AT THE STATION,
BECAUSE THEY MIGHT DULL MY SENSES AND FORCE HESITATION.

SO, WHY DO I DO IT? WHERE IS THE JOY?
THERE'S PEOPLE WHO SMILE, A FOUND LITTLE BOY.
THERE'S LAUGHTER AND FRIENDSHIP WITH PEOPLE WHO CARE,
THERE'S KNOWING A DIFFERENCE "JUST BECAUSE WE ARE THERE".
THERE'S SUNSHINE AND SADNESS AND HAVING THE NERVE,
TO GET UP EACH MORNING AND SAY THAT "I SERVE".

John Sutton

Godspeed, Officer White, and Thank You!

Tim,we all are going to miss you. You made everyday better by making us laugh. You were there when times were tough.Such as the time you and me were diving off Holly Park,we dropped down about 50 feet looking for that boater. That was the coldest, darkest place I've ever been. But,I was confident that all would be Okay, because my dive partner was at arms reach. Rest in Peace my friend, your watch is done. You made your family and friends proud. Our prayers are with your family.
