Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Brian Steven Gregg

I think of all of you every day, and have often stopped by to visit Officer Gregg to pray and reflect on the ultimate sacrifice that he made, and on what a true hero he really is.
I know the darkness of these days may often seem insurmountable, and I do know that the emptiness and loss feels endless, but time will help to ease some of the pain, maybe because of a numbing effect. I pray that the day will come when you are able to find some peace in your memories.
Please know that there are many who care deeply for your family.

My stepdad, Joseph Epp was also involved in this horrible incident. Although, he suffered much minors injuries and pain than did Brian and his family. I personally, didn't meet Officer Gregg. But, I've heard only great and wonderful things about him. I recently met his parents when I went to visit his grave in which I try and do often. His tombstone is absolutly georgous and touching.
I often think about how great the world was when he was physically here, but as I look apon it now, I truly belive that it may not be "better" but just as good. I belive that Officer Gregg is looking down apon all of us and here in spirit. Brian- we will always remember you. You made the ultimate sacrifice. Therefore, I can truly say you are my hero. Rest in Peace. We love you

A year ago we were in Tennessee for the wedding of you niece when you sister got the news. I have thought about you often, on how in a split second your here and then a coward can change the life of your family. I have tried to be there for Eileen, to be the friend that she needs. She told me how you were there for her when she needed you. You were good to her Brian. I wish that I had gotten to know you while you were alive. I was going to have Eileen call you and tell you that this was the only time you were going to take care of "Tigg" when we went away.
You never got a chance to do so. On this the first anniversary of you death, we are heading out to St. Mary's Hospital where all this happened. They are having a small service to remember you. God Bless You Brian.......... We are all still in morning.

I think of you today Officer Gregg on this, the one year anniversary of your death. Some say time heals all wounds, but those of us who have endured this loss know differently. 12 months does nothing but allow the numbness to wear off. Brian, I know you live on in your loved ones' hearts, both your immediate family and your police family. God Bless all of you....

One year ago today I remember hearing about this incident from a meighbor who is originally from the Newtown area. There is always a sadness and emptiness for every officer when one of our own is taken from us, however, please know that you will always be remembered for your heroism and courage. May God watch over your family always.

Hi Brian,
We only meet ounce but I feel like I know you very well through my girlfriend Eileen. You used to talk to her everyday when you would pick-up your son at steepal kids. She was very happy to know you. She misses you so much and so do I. I did traffic duty for you in Newtown the day of your funiral. I was very sad that day, I can't beleave it's going to be a year in acouple of days. Please watch over my dad, He is a police officer in St.Marys pa and watch over me(i want to fallow my dad's footsteps soon as my military enlistment is up). I will do my best to make sure you and your family are well taken care of. You will always be apart of my heart.

Brian, although we never knew one another, I stop by and visit with you from time to time. The cemetery is on my way to/from the office. I carry your mass card in my helmet and your story everywhere I go. There is not a day that I don't think of what you, Officer Warunek, and Joe Epp went through. It is hard to believe that it's been nearly a year since that terrible night. Your family is always in my thoughts and prayers. Rest easy, brother.

Police Officers Prayer

Oh Almighty God, whose great power and eternal wisdom embraces the universe.

Watch over all policemen and law enforcement officers.

Father in Heaven please give them the strength, courage and perseverance to endure

The unjust condemnation, danger, and physical abuse to which they are at times subjected.

We recommend them to your loving care because their duty is dangerous.

Dear God, grant these brave men your almighty protection,

Unite them safely with their families after duty has ended.

Amen

It's interesting. How funny life can be. You think that you have the world by the tail. And then, you don't. Suddenly, you wish you would have said and done so many things and regret and question all of your previous steps. Should i have did this or should I have done that??? . It all becomes a big blurr. You may have tossed and turned at night or spent the day just in a fog perhaps daydreaming of what could be differant. Why am I here?, whats my purpose?.
Then somebody like Brian comes along. He knew his purpose.
He has this face and alot more hair than you, and he is as much as a goofball as you are. He immediately affects you and he is considered what I like to consider an instant friend.
Wow, an instant friend. I was and always will feel lucky to have known you. And even luckier to be a fellow goofball. Now thats what I consider good company. Thanks for looking out for me Brian. Then and now. Jack
P.S. Two guys walk into a Bar. , aww!!! you and I know the punchline. Ha Ha

I miss my brother every day. He was more then a brother to me. He was there at the drop of a hat. He would have put his life on hold for his family if need be and I wish that I had had more time with him to give back to him all that he gave to me and my children through difficult times. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I look forward to the day that we are reunited and he will be in my heart until then. I Love You Brian, Thank You for all that you shared with us here.

our thoughts and prayers are with you and your Family. I was at the fundraiser on 12/2/2005 and the amount of people that where there is a true testament to you Brian, Everybody had a story, or knew somebody that knew you, and you will be missed, I work in Newtown, and will always recall you doing a traffic stop, or riding the bike or just walking down State Street. Brian you made a difference, you treated people the way you wanted to be treated, and that made all the difference in the world.

You made a postive inpact, and it showed by all the supporters that where at New Hope's Firehouse, Brian you will be missed but will Never be forgotten. God Bless / Rest in Peace

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
