Jamie,
YOU are a true HERO. To me, your children, your family, friends, community, and your fellow officers. My heart is broken as is so many others. Yet,I'm proud to say that you were once my husband and will always be the father of our children. Although we went down many rocky roads together,we did manage to find a way to smooth out the bumps. You will always be in my heart for the love that I still carry for you and the two beautiful girls that we shared together. Therfore, I am the lucky one, for I will always have you here with me as you live forever through them and you walk with them through their journey here on this earth. They now have their own personal Guardian Angel. They call him DADDY! So as you patrol the streets of heaven, watching over and protecting us, know that I still do and always will love you.

Jamie was a dedicated officer but first he was a father to two beautiful little girls who love him very much, a son to a wondeful mother and father, a brother to his little sister and brother, a uncle, a brother in law, a nephew, and a lifelong friend to many. He will be greatly missed by those who love him! Rest in peace Jamie!

To the family and friends of Corporal James Walker and fellow officers with the Waynesboro Police Dept:

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to entend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when James was so brutally murdered. His valor and bravery will never be forgotten.

May his loved ones be comforted by the caring and support of your law enforcement community, and other police survivors. Our family grieves with you and for you. We share your agony as we lost our beloved Larry Lasater of the Pittsburg Police Dept. when he was fatally shot on April 23rd during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers.

It is so sad that James was killed in the line of duty at such an early age, and deprived of a lifetime of experiences, especially that of raising his family. We also pray that justice for you be rendered against the despicable criminal who took his life.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect fo the service Cpl. Walker gave to his community, and the citizens of Mississippi, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 28, 2005.

My fiancé, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis was a Deputy Sheriff with the Davis County Sheriff's Office in SE Iowa. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Jamie did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Jamie be the last to die this way.

Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Corporal Walker's family, friends, and co-workers are going through in losing him. My heart goes out to you all. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. Please know that my thoughts are with you and that you are not alone in your "journey". Should you ever need anything please do not hesitate to contact me. (The Davis County Sheriff's Office and COPS will also always know how to reach me.)

As a fallen officer "survivor" and a friend, please accept my condolences on behalf of myself and the McElderry family. I never got the opportunity to know Jamie but, I am certain he was well respected and well loved. Jamie will live on in the hearts of all the lives he touched. You were all blessed to have been able to know and love Jamie, even for a short time. I pray that Jamie and Dennis will continue to watch over us along with all the other fallen officers all as only they can.

Thank you Corporal Walker for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiancé Dennis for me.

Wishing you and all those who loved you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

Somebody killed a policeman today,
and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
and spend many long, lonely nights.
The beat that he walked was a battle field too,
just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
and he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call, of himself gave his all,
and a part of America died.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God."

While it is no consolation for your loss, our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Corporal Walker.

While no member of our agency had the privilege to have known him personally, we are certain that he has found a place in heaven through his selfless service to those he swore to protect.

Rest in peace corporal; those of us who remain will cover your post on the thin blue line.
