They say time heals...It does not..You just get used to the pain...For 32 years we laughed and loved; for better or worse our souls danced together..now a year has passed, and your memory still dances in my heart, your laughter still echos in my mind..you were and always will be, the half that made me whole....i miss us...

Dan was my neighbor when he worked for the Forest Service in Globe, Az. He came to me when he wanted to be a reserve officer got his Az. State certification. Then he became a fireman and EMT and then back to what he really loved the Park Service. Dan always loved his family and his job. Your work and sacrifices are done here my friend. Rest in peace.

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

It was with great sorrow that I learned of Danny's death. The short time that I worked with him at Globe Fire Dept was the most memorable.

It is with deep sadness that I learned of the death of Dan Madrid, affectionately known as "Pinky" by those of us who fought fire with him in the Forest Service back in 70's and early 80's. He was a friend and coworker on Engine 238 and we shared many adventures, including the memorable and massive Marble Cone Fire near Monterrey back in 1977. As young firefighters we also had our share of fun and excitement. I was fortunate to meet up with Dan after he left the Forest Service and went to the Park Service. It was on my last assignment as a Globe Hotshot, and we reported to Dan's duty station at Flamingo in the Everglades National Park where Dan briefed us for our first night shift assignment. Unfortunately that week in 1989 was the last time I saw Dan, but he would call me occasionally in the years to come...always enthusiastic about his work. I know one thing, he was an extremely dedicated and motivated firefighter, officer, and family man. He will be missed by many, including those of us in the Forest Service who began their careers along side him.

Although a month has passed since Dan joined God I still keep waiting for my phone to ring or my home front door to pop open to hear, "What ya doin' B?", but it no longer comes. Dan was notorious for catching me in my pajamas or looking my utmost worst at home! He never cared. Dan was probably one of the least judgemental people I ever met. He saw the better side of people and liked almost everyone.

In some ways I was closer to Dan than to my own brother who is also named Dan. We bickered like brother and sister, but it was never in anger.

Dan and I were on Special Events Team together and spent many a day and night in the "trenches" performing our duty as law enforcement officers. He never complained about the job. He loved working for the NPS. What I learned most in those long hours together is how much he absolutely loved his wife and children. My deepest condolences to them foremost, but I also mourn the loss of a faithful friend and co-worker for all the rest of us. Dan was a man of honor and integrity and will be missed for a very long time.

I never say good-bye. Dan, I'll see ya next time!

I truly admired Dan. Not only he was he my brother-in-law but he was a friend as well.

You only had to talk to him and you knew immediately how much he loved his job and how dedicated he was to the Park Service.

But even though he loved his job. He loved his wife Becky and his two kids, Heather and Chris even more.

I will miss you so very much Dan and may you rest in peace knowing that we will take care of the love's of your life... Becky and your kids.

May God Bless.

I met him at Custer Battlefield years ago when I was an NPS seasonal. I had not spoken with him in years, but I always knew where to find him in case my vacations took me in his direction. He was a great officer, but above all, a great person. Heatherlee, he touched so many people outside the NPS with his professionalism and personality. Be proud of him and what he has accomplished.

Dan not only was my partner in fighting crime for the last ten years, he was a close friend. Words cannot express how honored I am to have known him. Dan helped mold me into the officer I am today and his memory will give me the strength and motivation to be the best I can be throughout my career. My heart goes out to Rebecca, Chris and Heather. I imagine that Dan is a guardian angel watching over you and his grandchildren. I love you all and my prayers and thoughts are with you. To Dan, thanks for always being there for me when I needed you and know that I miss you dearly. You will never be forgotten, may peace be with you. Your buddy, JB.

After attending a Halloween party some years ago with my husband and Dan and Reba, Dan always wanted a hug when he came by my office. It was an ongoing joke because one of us went as Dolly Parton. I'll miss Dan stopping by. But hey Dan, I'm gonna keep an eye on Reba for you and we'll all meet again on that golden shore. With love and prayers for the entire family, Dianne Davis

So many people were affected by my fathers death; in additon to family alone; he will be missed by the hundreds of people his life touched.

He has saved peoples lives and brought them to justice;
he has inspired valor in many and fear in the criminals he sought;
He taught myself and my brother what a marriage truly is and how to love so deeply, and left so many people with so many stories and memories of the great man that he was.

He was given the respect and honor he deserved and so many came to share our loss and express their love for my father- he will truly be missed.

He's heaven's special agent now.

I'll miss you daddy.
