Reflections for Police Officer Tara Marie Drummond
Officer Drummond, today marks the 1-year anniversary of your tragic death and I can see by the reflections left by others, you truly were a very special person. You have a lovely smile and you should have had many more years to share it with others.
My heart and my prayers go out to your family and what appears to be a huge number of friends. They miss you and will always love you, but I know they know, you will never be far away from them.
My heart also goes out to the instructor whose gun caused this. I have him in my prayers as well as I’m sure he’s devastated at what occurred.
May you continue to Rest in Peace, Officer Drummond, you seem to have touched more people in your 4 months on the job than some folks do in a lifetime. God Bless.

A Year has past. Today is the day that changed everything in our world. Everything is still clear like it happened yesterday, but it feels like five years,,,,there's been so much happen and so many hard days. We still hear about the memories, we still hear from folks that you touched and the times you had and how much so many miss you. It helps the hard days pass.
We've missed you so much the last few days,,,,,,just thinking about today. Now this morning is here,,,
We LOVE YOU and MISS YOU. Today will always be kept special.

It has been one years since you were called away and I know the tears still flow and the broken hearts still have terrible pain. There are no magic words I can offer to help your loved ones with their pain except that they are not alone and to take one day at a time. You are a true hero and heroes never die. You will never be forgotten by those that love you nor will the Blue Family ever let that happen. Keep watch over your loved ones and wrap your wings around them to help ease some of their pain.

365 days of pain and sadness. 365 days of tears. 365 days of missing you. 365 days of a broken heart. 365 days of asking why.
Only God can take away the pain and ease the sadness. Only God can fill the void of loneliness. Only God can heal the broken heart. Only God knows why.
May God comfort all of us on this day and every day that we miss, hurt for, and remember Tara. But mostly, may God wrap His arms around Tina, Brian, Brittney and Michael on this day and carry them through with a sense of peace and comfort. May the closeness of God ease the pain. May the prayers of family and friends help you through this day.

I can't believe it's almost been a year. I still remember the smile on your face like yesterday. It's comforting to read the support that you have amongst those across the country. We will always remember you and the lives that you touched while alive and beyond. You are a true hero in our eyes, and may we never rest contendedly until we have solidified your place in history for the remarkable deeds which you accomplished. Your compassion for standing up for what is right and protecting the people from what is wrong is a trademark of your personality and a barometer for all to follow. From the bottom of my heart, I say I miss you, Tara. You were a blessing in my life, and there's no way to replace you.
Love, Matthew

To Tara's family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers,
Although I am not a law enforcement officer, just merely a citizen, I was shocked and hurt at this tragic loss of an officer. I realize that it has been almost a year since Tara's death, but I know that it will not go forgotten. I pray for the family and friends of Officer Tara Drummond and for all law enforcement agencies and ask them to remember this:
EACH ONE OF US IS BORN FOR A SPECIFIC REASON AND PURPOSE, AND EACH ONE OF US WILL DIE WHEN HE OR SHE HAS ACCOMPLISHED WHATEVER WAS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED. THE
IN-BETWEEN DEPENDS ON OUR OWN WILLINGNESS TO MAKE THE BEST OF EVERY DAY, OF EVERY MOMENT, OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY. THE CHOICE IS ALWAYS YOURS.
~~Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
~~~~Taken from "Chicken Soup for the Grieving Soul"~~~~
This poem particulary inspired me to go on after losing my mother when I was 18 and a senior in high school. My mom was only 44 and died from a massive coronary heart attack.
May God Bless Tara's family and all law enforcement officers.
Sincerely,
I miss you so much. I think of you everyday and that will never change. I know I can't change the way things happened. This is something that I have had to make myself understand. Even though there are no answers. But I can say that if I was going to do it all over again. I wouldn't change a thing. Above all, many things change in life. But one thing will never change, and for this one thing I am forever grateful: You were an angel on earth, and you still are, and you always will be.
I dedicate my entire law enforcement career to your honor. Im sure Class 219 as a whole feels the same way,
Tara,
It still seems strange for me that you do not work here at VTRC anymore and that I will not see you and listen to your infectious laugh. You are missed by your family, friends, co-workers and all those whose lives you touched.
We will always remember you. We are honoring your memory with the park and on the Silver Comet Trail. So many people have come together to help us with getting it started - I think you would be touched to know how much and how many people care about you. I hope you will proudly look upon this park as a special place for your family and your spirit when it is finished.
May you rest in peace in heaven,
Officer Drummond as we pay respects and honor you this day in a fund raising you are sorely missed. The life and compassion you exressesed to your fellow people was an example of love for mankind. The love of animals was expressed in the same way. So today as we enjoy the sunlight of another day and this [golf] fund event will relect the warm of "YOUR LOVE". The Silver Comet Trail "PET STOP" will florish because of the love we have for you and you chosen profession. To a SAFE TOUR in GODS HANDS. Officer "HAWK" Hawkins
Tina & Brian,
I know every day since Sep 13, 2005 has been hard...but oh, how hard today must have been. Tara's birthday, 24 years ago today. Tina, I still remember Mama flying home from Germany to be there with you -- and the beginning of a precious relationship between her and Tara. It's comforting to know Mama was there waiting for Tara in Heaven and they are rejoicing together. And Brian, what an absolutely wonderful job you did raising Tara with Tina more than 20 of her short 23 years on earth. What a honorable, respectable thing to love Tara as your own, to raise her in your home, to be her father through the good times and the bad...making sure she always knew you were there for her, no matter what! No one else could have done such an amazing job raising Tara. Tina and Brian, the Christian values you live every day are directly reflected in Tara. What a testimony to God. We love you deeply and share this day with you honoring Tara in our thoughts and prayers. I love you Sis!
