I'm very happy to see a memorial page for fallen policemen.
THANK YOU for your service to the City of Atlanta. I'm very proud that I'm a decendant. My dad told me about you and left a portrait of you on horseback.

Hope to find the "Heard Family Cemetery"

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 103rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace

Officer James Heard, your sacrifice is all the more sobering, when we consider that you did not have all the modern weapons, officer safety devices, radios, training and tactics that we have available to us today. Your job was much harder and hazardous than our's today, when all you had at your disposal was a gun, a badge, and guts, and nothing more! Coppers like you in your day, earned infinitely more than they ever got. You continue to serve as an example of supreme sacrifice. RIP
