Although no words will cure the broken hearts of all of those affected by Shawn's death, I feel it necessary to express my sincere sympathy. I also feel it is necessary for me to express my sincere gratitude to Shawn. I had the privilege of meeting Shawn several years ago when he was a part-time officer with the Forest Lake Police Department. Although I never knew him on a personal level, and would consider him an “acquaintance,” he always stuck out as one of the cops who were really in this line of work for all of the right reasons. I never took him as arrogant or power hungry, but respectful and professional. I lost touch with Shawn after he became a full timer with Lino, but still heard updates on his endeavors through my co-workers. When I think of Shawn, I can’t help but think that he truly lived his life for God and his family. He did God’s work through his Police work and his missionary work. My heart aches for Shawn’s family, the Lino Lakes Police ‘family,’ the Forest Lake Police ‘family’ and all of the officers who were on that horrific scene. We all lost a piece of our family or our ‘family’ on Tuesday, and together we will mourn. I’m sure Shawn didn’t miss a beat, and is already patrolling the streets of Heaven. Be safe and God Bless!

IN YOUR MEMORY

Don't cry because you think I'm gone,
for I am with you still.
Don't seek reasons to explain
what is simply just God's will.

It's very hard to leave all of you
and everything I've known,
but my work on earth is done now.
Our Lord has called me home.

I know you will find comfort
Just let faith guide your way.
Cause, from the moment I was born,
I have been preparing for this day.

Remember me for the laughter,
that's the greatest gift we give.
Keep me in your heart and mind
because that's where I now live.

If ever you feel you need me,
you can close your eyes and see,
I'm still right here with you,
I'm alive in your memory.

Officer Silvera you are a hero and will never be forgotten by your family, close friends, nor the Blue Family. Watch over your family and those officers still out on patrol. Your wife and children and parents have a long road ahead of them. There are no words I can say to comfort them except that I know what they are feeling. God be with you and your family.
