Ray I will miss seeing you on all the baseball games that our boys will play together in the future. Also seeing your patrol car parked outside the fence when you were on duty. Rest in peace.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for the overwhelming support and love we have received in the loss of our son and brother, Ray. To his family at the Douglas Police Department who were at his side every minute from his last breath to his departure from this earth. To the Emergency Medical Teams quick response, doing everything possible to keep him here with us longer, only to realize, his job was done. To Dominic, and his staff at Brown and Page who did everything in their power to ease our pain during this difficult time. To the community of Douglas, family and friends, who came together for our family when we so much needed you. To the enormous law enforcement family we never knew Ray had who came from all over to comfort us and lay our son and brother to rest with the great honor he so deserved. To the City of Douglas, who worked diligently to help provide such a beautiful farewell. Our gratitude is infinite. Everything was done in such a professional yet personal manner. There are no words to show how very proud we are of Ray and of all law enforcement that put their lives on the line everyday for our protection. You knew about our grief and you showed kindness and care. The world’s a better place because of people like you, who give unconditionally of yourselves. We thank God that there are kind-hearted people on earth. May God bless each and every one of you. And remember, when you don’t make that complete stop on that corner, or breaking the law, Officer Rios is still watching.

Officer Rios is my brother. Truly a man in every aspect of what a man could ever be. We will truly miss him and I shall always remember him for the great Brother he was. Although he is gone, I feel his spirit still here. His hands were still working with us as his funeral preparations were being planned. Sgt Davila said to me that when he encountered a slight bump along the way during preparation, someone would call and ask if it needed to be taken care of. That was Ray, taking care of bussines. To all Agencies who gave so much on these very emotional days, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your reward is in Heaven adn Ray will be waiting.

My fiancé, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis was a Deputy Sheriff with the Davis County Sheriff's Office in SE Iowa. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Ramon did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Ramon be the last to die this way.

Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Officer Rios' family, friends, and co-workers are going through in losing him. My heart goes out to you all, especially to his wife. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. Please know that my thoughts are with you and that you are not alone in your "journey". Should you ever need anything please do not hesitate to contact me. (The Davis County Sheriff's Office and COPS will also always know how to reach me.)

As a fallen officer "survivor" and a friend, please accept my condolences on behalf of myself and the McElderry family. I never got the opportunity to know Ramon but, I am certain he was well respected and well loved. Ramon will live on in the hearts of all the lives he touched. You were all blessed to have been able to know and love Ramon, even for a short time. I pray that Ramon and Dennis will continue to watch over us along with all the other fallen officers all as only they can.

Thank you Officer Rios for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiancé Dennis for me.

Wishing you and all those who loved you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

I remember Ray when he worked for Cochise County Sheriff's Office. I was shocked to hear that such a good man and Officer was take from us too soon. I was born in Douglas and grew up just down the road in Elfrida. I know it hit the community of Douglas and Cochise County hard when they lost a true hero. May God bless Ramon Rios, his family, Douglas P.D. and the people Cochise County.

It always saddens me to loose a fellow brother, especially when it hits so close to home. I remember Ray since I was a kid and he worked for the schools. He always had a smile on his face; which was so contagious. I will miss you. keep an eye on us, we'll take it from here. Que en paz descanses hermano.
