I came back home to Huntsville after losing my fiance' in Fayette Alabama on June 7, 2003. I have alot of friends in the Huntsville Police Department that have helped me through the hard times that followed, and for that I am truly thankful. I picked up the newspaper the other day and was devistated to find that Huntsville Police Department had lost one of there own. There are NO WORDS to explain how sad I am that this has happened. I never want to think of anyone, any family, any child, any agency having to go through this tradegy. I just want you to know that I will pray for you EVERY day, and PLEASE never forget that you are not alone.

May God bless you and keep you,

I met Daniel passing by an accident on 72 in which I saw some fellow co-workers whom I thought were involved, but were just witnesses. I stopped and was chatting with Golden, the greatest of personalities, not to mention a great sense of humor. I'll never forget calling your cell on occasion and getting your awful voicemail message that made me believe you actually picked up. (For those who don't know) His voicemail was "Hello? Hello? Oh Im not here right now?" It used to annoy me! However, now I miss it.. I'll miss your text messages on Friday Nite 80's requesting the most random of songs.

You will be missed Golden!

Officer Daniel Golden was a good man, and he seemed to love his job. My Nephew had a breakdown over a breakup with his girlfriend, and felt that he wanted to take his life. He went into Wal-Mart where a relative worked to tell her goodbye, and he was extremely freaked out. Officers at the scene were prepared to take him out. Officer Golden saw my Nephew and new him from a previous incident and knew he would not bring harm to others; he just had to get to him; to keep him from making a crucial mistake. Officer Golden snuck up behind him and tackled him. I feel he saved my Nephews life that night, and I am thankful that I had an opportunity to shake his hand and tell him so at my Nephews hearing. He will always be remembered. He was an outstanding Officer, and he believed in keeping the law and encouraging these young kids to make a change in their lives. May God comfort family, friends and concerned citizens in the loss of this young officer’s life. It really touched my heart to meet an Officer of his caliber. Officer Golden may be gone, but not forgotten. Thanks Again, Officer Golden for making a difference.

Vigilat Ut Quiescant.

He wakes, so they can rest.

These words are inscripted in every single Dutch police batch. For me and many other Dutch Officers it is inscripted in the heart as well.

The time has come for Daniel Golden to rest. His fellow Officers will keep on waking as Daniel Golden did untill disaster struck. May he rest in peace and may all who have to miss Daniel Golden find the strength to overcome their grief en keep on standing tall.
