Reflections for Police Officer Daniel Howard Golden

My heart felt symphathy goes out to Officer Golden's family, fellow officers and friends. In time I pray the wonderful memories will outweight the horrible pain you are feeling now. You are all in my prayers.

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout ,with the archangel's voice, and with the trumpet of God,and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are still alive will be caught up together with them in clouds to meet the Lord in the air;and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.(1 Thessalonians 4:16-18) Brother you and your family will never be forgotten rest in peace.

I wanted to leave the family a message to make this time easier but what can be said that could make this loss any easier. The only thing I can think of is he is in a better place with no worries. I read all of the reflections and my heart aches for the family and friends. I know many HPD and I only hope that we can all learn from this. People do not see these officers as who they are people just like you and me out there trying to protect all of us and trying to make this world a better place. This is a great loss.

Officer Golden,

You will forever be in the thoughts and prayers of all who knew you. Although i never had the honor and priviledge of meeting you I did know your wife, Dee, as I worked with her for a number of years. I pray that God will stay beside her and your family throughout this difficult time.

You are truly safe in the arms of God today and I am sure that the memories will live on forever.

I just met golden July 20 while he was out to dinner at Sammy's Steakhouse, with Dee and friends. He said, "He was glad to meet the person who was going to put up with Ben for the rest of their lives!" I still hear him saying that today. I never got to know him, but I know that he is sadly missed by his HPD family. May God watch over Dee and the family and all of his HPD sisters and brothers.

I cannot express my heart's sympathy enough for the Family of Officer Golden. I knew and rode with officer Golden as a Police Ranger with the Huntsville PD for about a year. In that time, I got to know Officer Golden and how a true and outgoing of a officer he was. I will never forget the outstanding support that he gave to his fellow officers. I just ask that God be with his family and bless them in this time of deep sorrow.

HEROS AREN'T MADE, THEY ARE BORN. OFFICER DANIEL GOLDEN IS TRUE BORN HERO TO ME FOR GIVING THE ULTIMATE SACARFICE IN THE LINE OF DUTY. YOU WILL DEEPLY BE MISSED DANIEL. GOD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU FOREVER.

After reading the reflections, I feel that I missed out on something special by not knowing Daniel. Our officers go out everyday and put their lives on the line for us and Daniel paid the ultimate sacrifice. I can't even begin to express my heart felt sympathy to Daniel's family. My prayer is that God will bring comfort to Daniel's family members and his family at HPD.

The following is a song by the Christian group MercyMe:

"Homesick"

Your in a better place, I've heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would still be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home

In Christ, there are no goodbye's
And in Christ, there is no end
So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
To see you again

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home is where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now.

We all must make sure that we are "right" with God, and that we are Saved by His Grace.

Officer Golden you will be missed by everyone here. I only worked with you a few times, but you always had a smile on your face. Your smile, and knowing that you are in Heaven watching over us now is what gives me comfort. Rest in Peace Brother. To the Golden family, remember that there are thousands of "family-members" around the globe that are praying for you. God Bless you Daniel Golden.

Golden,
Your name enough can not describe the type of person that you were. You had a heart of gold with a steel frame. You always had a smile on your face and were proud to just be able to help others. No matter how bad the day was, it was always brightened as soon as I made contact with you. Your unique personality defined you as one of the greatest officers the city of Huntsville has ever seen. I can remember times when you worked over with 3rd shift and the times that we spent together and cherish them, as I will always. I think back to the conversations that we used to have in-between shift and I wish that their were more to come. You served your city, country, co-workers and friends proud as that I can say I am honored to have known you and work beside you. I have spoke to God everyday since you have passed and look forward to the day that I join you in your quest for the eternal happiness. My best wishes go out to the Golden family and I only hope they understand that they raised one of the best men I will have ever known. I miss you brother. I will never forget you. I love you my brother in blue and Godspeed.

I was deeply sadden to learn of Officer Goldens death. Although I never had the pleasure of knowing Officer Golden personally, having formerly worked in the Huntsville-Madison County Emergency Communications Center, it still felt like a personal loss. Officer Goldens family, as well as the men and women of the Huntsville Police Department and everyone touched by his life are in my thoughts and prays, along with my family at the Franklin Police Department.

"Kelso" always brought a smile to everyone around him. I can't tell you the number of citizens that have expressed their sympathies to both his families. Several told stories of encounters with Officer Golden and how he had helped them. There are no words that can express our feelings of loss. God bless and be with his family. We have the watch, brother, you rest. Godspeed.
