Reflections for Police Officer Daniel Howard Golden
Was thinking about you today Daniel and a flood of great memories come to mind and the stories you could tell that would make anyone smile. We know you're keeping watch from up above and it makes us all feel good to know you're well taken care of up there. Your family and all the great officers from HPD are remembered every day. Ive moved from Huntsville to Charlotte and now Augusta and have met some more awesome brothers and sisters in blue along the way. Each and every one from across the country are thought about and prayed for every day for courage, strength and perserverience to put on that uniform and serve proudly as you did every day. Kelso you made an impression on so many people and your life and memories will be cherished for years to come. I was blessed to have you as a friend even for a short time before you were taken away but that short time make a lifetime impression on how to serve honorably and make each day count to the fullest. Thanks brother for always looking after us in the streets and from above. I always knew if we ran a call in your district we never had to worry as you would take good care of us no matter what and that made a lasting impression on all of us. Take care brother and keep watch from above.

I think of you often, and I always remember your family when I do. Your life was cut short on this earth, but Heaven gained another angel when you left us. Your family misses you terribly, but you will forever live in their cherished memories and hearts filled with love for you.

Five years later and you are still thought of every day. I honestly don't know if I will ever meet a nicer or more kind-hearted person than you. Thank you for your sacrifice, and we will forever miss you.

Daniel, I was never blessed with having met you but from the stories I've heard and the smiles on the faces of your brothers telling them shows me what a great person you are. I hope and pray that your family and friends minds are eased knowing you watch over them.May God bless them and watch over them as you have.

"He was admired and respected for his courage and his professional skill by all with whom he served. His tragic loss will be deeply felt and a grateful nation will be forever in his debt." - from a letter written by President John F. Kennedy to the parents of U.S. Air Force Major Rudolf Anderson, who was shot down over Cuba in 1962.

I pray that the Lord gives your Momma, Daddy and brother the strength they need today. God bless you Mr. & Mrs. Golden. We Love you and will always be here for you.

As I patrol these streets where I roam
I think of my family waiting at home.
Caught between two worlds as I see.
wanting to fight crime,
but still yearning to raise a family.
I realize my mortality at times when I faced the evil
that I so dearly yearned to find,
But am encouraged to hear when a citizen
tells my chief I was so kind.
Looking back I wander how I’ve made it all these years,
without opening death’s door like you and Freeman have,
so I continue to fight back these salty tears.
It’s then I realize the common thread we had.
It wasn’t the fear of death that we shared,
but the love of fellow man
and search for righteousness that we bare.
Now that the two of you are gone,
It’s then I conclude, your deaths would be in vain,
if we don’t continue to just fight the evil and move on.
So without missing a beat,
we will continue to see good over evil,
and look forward to seeing the two of you at Jesus's mercy seat.
For it’s in his blood,
that will make us all complete.

Daniel I had been thinking of how you checked the ODMP everyday before roll call tonight, so I decided to check it and read of the latest incidents. It seemed that you were always intrigued by the details of every officers death and the honor in which their co-workers remembered them. little did you know you would be engrained into the ODMP yourself.... each one reminds us all of how easily things can go 'south' on the most routine calls. Your tragedy has influenced me daily on duty to remain vigilent.RIP.

It's been five years today my brother since you were taken from your brothers in blue and your wonderful family. There is still not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. You are with me always, and I know that you are watching over us out there. It is an honor to have not only work with you, but to have had such a true and honest friendship. You still make me laugh when I think of your corky ways of doing things. Memories will last a lifetime. Love you brother. Miss you.....

As we approach the 5 year mark, touch us all. But especially Your Momma, your Daddy and David. I know you are still there, you live in all of us, But help us to see you over the next few weeks. Your infectious smile never fades. Be that cool breeze on the hot days, the miracle catch during David's first games, any way you can remind each of us...guide and touch us all. We all miss you. And i never, ever forget! Much love!!!

I know you would laugh if I said "this is your sign" but your sign will forever be on Hwy 231 going North & South. They put one as close to the TN sign as they could, for that is where you would want it. You are forever etched in all our minds.Miss you a lot.

This National Police week has been difficult little brother. The rainy Monday was like reliving it all over again, and then seeing the signs dedicated to you and tho other Fallen Offciers at the ceremony was very emotional. Dylan got really tore up over it. I will smile every day when I pass your signs. You are always on my mind.

I went by your resting place on Sunday. It felt so peaceful being there. I could hear you say "Class Attention" in that strong Tennessee accent and it brought a smile to my face.I belive you have plenty of dip but I'll bring you some more on my next visit. We all miss you and think about you often. We are always telling stories and sharing the memories we have. Your mom still keeps in touch and still brings some of her good cooking to the guys at work. She aslo visted one of our classmates newborn son who has been in the hospital. I know you will watch over him as you have watched over each of us. We miss you Kelso.

I went by your resting place yesterday. The small cemetery is filled with so many memories of you. As I approached your grave a small fawn lay close by. There was such peace there at that exact moment. I scanned all the flowers that were there and then I smiled. People as I do, will always love you and hold you close. We have to rely on the words of the Bible, for there is where our hope is. If we can find peace at any time may we savor it and squeeze it with all we have. Your mom and dad keep the place looking so good, but then you knew they would. Please know we love and miss you so bad. Please watch down upon us and keep us on the right track until we can meet again...Love, repect and Honor...your friends
