Roy,
Sabrina is so much like you. She went to school with my neice at Read Patillo, they were friends. It is amazing how you have managed to touch her life from so far away. It truly shows you are with us. You are missed very much. I share your story with each recruit and allow them to familirize themselves with the senseless tragedies that unfortunately comes with the job. Until we meet again someday!
NEVER FORGET!!

On the 5th anniversary of Officer Nelson's (and Caesar's) death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Officer Nelson and Caesar are not forgotten.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 5th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
I pray for solace for those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.
Rest In Peace

I can not believe its been five years already. Some of us have moved on, some of us are still there. The one thing that remains the same is the thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Rest in peace my brother until we meet again.....

I cannot believe it has been 5 years already when you left us that awful night. There are so many times when I want to call you on your cell phone and then it comes to me that you aren't here to help me as you always did. You made me smile when I was sad and laugh when I was upset, for this I am saddened that I no longer have my friend there to help me. I sometimes forget you in my prayers and it haunts me through out the day. I miss you and I know you both are in a better place but, being selfish, I would much rather you were here to talk to. I love you Roy Nelson and Caesar too. Till we meet again, Cathy

Another year goes by.....5 years now. We don't realize how fast time goes by until you actually stop and think about it. 5 years is a long time and still you are in our thoughts each and everyday, while at work and at home. These thoughts and memories of you will continue to bring us joy and the sorrow reminder of your sacrifice.
Brother, you will always live on through your Law Enforcement Family and friends.
You are missed and loved.

Roy and Caesar. Just wanted to stop by and say that there is not a time in my life that I do not think of you both. I know we are all here for a reason and have a purpose, and I know what your's and Caesar's was . I just can't believe God took you both. You had so much to give and protect. Till this day, I still don't understand. You took pride in your work and did 100%. I am proud to have known you and worked with you both. I'm in the skies almost every day and I look down and think ....... I know Roy and Caesar are looking down watching over us.
God Bless

I will never forget when Roy was sitting outside the Sergeants office one day and made the comment "Wake up and smell the flowers Algernon". His nickname to bust his chops was "Roytard". His sarcastic wit that morning proved that he was anything but "Roytarded". Oh, and did I mention it was funny. He was always funny. However, his nickname for me was kind of "roytarded", it was "Fikimus tree", because I am tall. Not very funny, but makes me giggle thinking about it now.
His little girl has so much of his characteristics, at 6 her facial expressions bring my heart right back to her daddy.

Roy,
Although I did not know you personally and you had passed on before my time with the New Smyrna Beach Police, I feel as if I have come to know you through the stories and memories of the fellow officers you served with! What I am certain of is that we too would have become great friends and trusted comrades in arms along the away as well. May you rest in peace in the comfort of "Our Father's" loving arms and my God's Blessings be with your family always!!

Today is four years since the good lord called you and Cesear home. The two of you have left behind a hole at NSBPD that cannot be filled. Stories are still told by both me and many others of the great nights and few days we shared. Sadly, I can remember the night you left us and the events that followed to a tee.
Tomorrow, along with many others, I will visit your final resting place to remember my brother. You may no longer be here with us in person, however, I know you still ride and are with all of us.
Take care brother, as you are still missed. God bless you, Angie, and the rest of your family.

Tomorrow will mark the passing of a great man and a loyal
K-9 partner.
My Wife and I visited the Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C last December and I found your name. I stood there with her thinking of August 13th 2005, I can clearly remember when you & Cesar were called home. I remember the services held in your honor, talking with your Wife & Family, but most of all, I remember all that you did for the Community and your fellow officers, including me.
You were one of my inspirations to become a K-9 Officer and in January of this year, I finally was able to do it.
Displayed on my patrol and personal car is your memorial sticker that they designed, it is an honor to display that sticker in the memory of You & Cesar.
It is also an honor to stand among you as a fellow K-9 Officer in the Law Enforcement brotherhood.
Tomorrow, My Wife and I will visit the site that you & Cesar were taken home at. Know that you have never been and never will be forgotten.
Although You and Cesar do not walk among us, I know that you both fly along as we patrol the streets of our Cities at night, helping to guide our way and keep us safe!
God Bless to you & your Family, You are always in our thoughts and prayers.
