The bond that ties law enforcement officers together is recognised by all that have worn a badge. Officers that have been blessed to work in K-9 know that same bond ten fold. I thank you for your service and my prayers are with your family. I hope thatsomeday we shall meet, and with our K-9 partners share a beat, as we walk streets of gold.

Remembering Roy

I’ll always remember that mischievous smile,
From the man who stood ready, to go that extra mile.
He never needed to be up in the limelight,
But you’d always see him standing up for what’s right.
He was a good officer, and an honorable man,
True to his family, friends and this land.
He will be missed by too many to count,
But every memory – well deserved, no doubt.
Caesar will still be standing at his side,
A faithful partner, always ready to ride.
They will protect and keep one another true.
Just the way that a lifelong partner, should do.
I know they’ll be watching over us still,
Make sure to look back – I know I will.

Roy,

I only worked a few calls with you but I know that I could have counted on you when/if I needed you in a bind. That is what the "Thin Blue Line" is all about. Trusting your Co-workers.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends and especially your co-workers at New Smyrna Beach Police Department. You worked for a great department and I know you will be missed by all who you have touched in the past 7 years. I will miss seeing you and Ceasar on vehicle searches.

I feel safer knowing that you're keeping Watch over all departments from Heaven.

August 17, 2005

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"
