Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the Peacemakers: For they shall be called the Children of God.
To the Family of Officer Wayne Morgan, Yes, we are the Children of God, and there is no doubt that Wayne is with our Heavenly Father as we mourn his passing. Like Wayne, I'm a 28 year veteran officer. My wife and I both deal with prisoners on a daily basis. We never know what the day will bring us, but we try to deal with the situation at hand as it happens. This makes 83 Officers that have lost their lives in the past 8 months while trying to serve the people of our community.
I pray for Wayne and his family, friends, and co-workers, and I pray that those two that are responsible for Wayne's untimely passing will be dealt a swift justice, and they will. May God bless and be with each of you during this time of mourning.

I never met Wayne Morgan; however, I work with his son, Dennis. Dennis is one of the finest people I know on this earth! I'm sure that one of the greatest legacies Mr. Morgan leaves are his children - as well as his service to his church and his community. My deepest sympathy is extended to his wife, children, and other family and friends.

I worked with Cotton for a short time, even though he has been with us for a long time. I want to express my deep sorrows for our friends and his family. Nothing hurts us more when we loose a Officer. A lot of people do not realize how important our job is, and dangerous. For the family of Cotton I'm sure I speak for a lot of people at Brushy, we will always remember you, and we are deeply grateful of his service at Brushy Mountain. The only thing I have to say is this inmate should hope and pray that he doesn't come back to Brushy Mountain. Everyone here is family, and we take every death as one of our own.

TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord ! Keep the day/night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent upon me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. *** REST IN PEACE ***

CO Morgan, you have been called home entirely too early. May our family, colleagues and friends find some comfort in the knowledge that you died a true hero, in the service of others, putting your life ahead of theirs.
