Reflections for Correctional Officer Wayne Thomas "Cotton" Morgan

As a correctional officer and as one who has taken offenders to court apperances, I am fully aware of the dangers. My biggest fear became Officer Morgan's reality. Thank you for your service and my sincerest sympathy to your survivors. Too often the general public believes that once a criminal is put in jail that people are safe all te while forgetting people like us who put our lives on the line to keep them there. Thank you again.

Dear Family, friends, and co-workers of Cotton Morgan:

We will keep each of you in our continued thoughts and prayers. He sounds like he was a truly wonderful man with so much to give in life. His tour of duty here on earth is really not done because the wonderful memories will always be in your hearts. It's a blessing because none of those incredible memories can be taken away from any of you.

Each tear you shed is a reflection of the happiness and joy that Cotton brought into your life. From what I have read about him, he must have been not only a witness of God's word to others, but a living example.

Rest in peace Mr. Morgan, they are now in custody, and we will pray for them to, as I know you would want us to do. As the terrific person you were here on earth, it will be a joy to someday meet you in heaven. God Speed, Mr. Morgan, and we will see you at the house. I only wish we would have had the opportunity to have known you in our life here on earth.

Sincerely,
The Hill Family

Cotton I can't begin to tell people of the loss I felt tonight at the funeral home. I kept looking around for you. You were always with your fellow officers, offering support, hope & prayer for them in their time of need.

Besides your duties to your church you found time to also be the treasurer for our A.F.S.C.M.E. Local 2173. I know I speak for all of the Union members when I bid you goodnight...see ya later buddy

Our Loss Is Heaven's Gain
I miss you brother but I know you are in a better place. You only told us good night..not good-bye.

Dear Officer Morgan may you rest in peace and may your family find the strength to go on without you. You will never be forgotten for both your service to the people of the state of Tennessee and for your service to the people of this nation. Although I have been a Police officer for five years now, I was a Correction Officer first for the New York state Dept. of Correctional Services having served twenty years. I will never forget my brothers.
