Reflections for Police Officer Larry William Cantrell
The Cantrell Family and their friends, should take solace in the fact Larry was the type of man who made a difference in this world. It is apparent that his dad took an interest in his son's noble career by choosing to ride along. The world is a better place becuase of brave individuals like Larry, who chose daily to put himself in harms way to protect others. The world is also a better place becuase of Mr. Cantrell, the type of man who raised a hero and continued to be involved in his life until the end. The two of them have started different lives together now, and one day we shall all have a joyous reunion. God Bless The Cantrell Family and The Sapulpa Police Department.
A grateful citizen

Larry,
You are already missed by us all. Things just are not the same. It's fine when we are all together, laughing and remembering the times we did get to have. It's when I'm alone that it is hard. I know you've got us covered up there, we'll take it down here. God Bless you and you're dad for the Service you gave us.

“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but a two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

To friends and relatives of Larry:
I had the honor to work with Larry for about 2 1/2 years before he went to work at Supulpa PD. Larry was a good friend of mine, and one of the finest Officers and men that I have ever known. Always in good spirits and a friendly disposition, he was more than capable on the job, couragous, loyal and always there for his friends and family.
I did not know Larry's dad but Larry was always talking about him and was very proud of his father. The way Larry talked, you could tell that they had a close relationship. Larry was an example of what a Police Officer and a man should be. The highest compliment I can give a man is that I hope that both of my sons grow up to be that kind of man that Larry Cantrell was. You and your dad will be missed, but we will meet again my friend.

On this same date I was responding to a very similar call on rural roads, with lights & siren, and came extremely close to being involved in a head-on collision in almost the exact same circumstances...after stopping the motorist and issuing driving related charges the ODMP reflections and memorials flashed through my mind. I am saddened to read Officer Cantrell's memorial this morning as I start my shift.
God bless Officer Larry W. Cantrell, his family, and the Sapulpa Police Department

To the family of PO Cantrell and his Dad: You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow the evil plots and slanders of the wicked that flies by day. Nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you. Only a spectator shall you be as you witness the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most high your dwelling place. (Psalm 91:5-9)
Do not fret or have anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and pettion, with thanksgiving , continue to make your wants known to God. And Gods peace shall be yours... that peace which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Someone from the other side of the world prays for you.
