TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord ! Keep the day/night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent upon me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. *** REST IN PEACE ***

My thoughts and prayers are obviously with all of those who Officer Cantrell had to leave behind. Having walked this road for almost 2 1/2 years now, I know the pain, agony, heartbreak, and confusion that you all are obviously feeling. Please know that you are not alone, and never will be ever again. There are no words to ease the burden that you must carry, but know that you all have a special guardian angel. I know you'd much rather have him back here on earth, but he is carrying out a far greater mission with the Lord. You will see him again one day. Until then, carry on and make him proud and reach out for help when you need it from other survivors who have been on this journey as well. Take care, and please know that you will forever be in my heart.

To Officer Cantrell's Fiancee and Family -
What heartache I felt as I read this reflection today. The sadness I feel for your family is real. I lost my Fiancee - Officer Daniel Starks almost two years ago in an automobile crash. He was 21. All my dreams and reality of marrying Daniel vanished in seconds and I have been left to walk this Earth alone without him. As the days have gone by they have gotton easier - but I never forget. It is hard. Some days are torture - other days are not so bad. To Officer Cantrell's Fiancee..I will be praying for you everyday. I pray that Larry will send you love signs from Heaven as I often get from my Daniel and that in some way you will always know he is with you. I dont know if you will ever read this but, I will pray for you and Officer Cantrell's Family.
Love and Peace,
Jessica

Being a pallbearer was the biggest heartache and greatest honor I've ever known.
We're all still pretty shaken but we've all pulled together and the service was incredible and really helped us all a lot. The procession was over 5 miles long and all you could see all the way to the horizon vantage point was flashing lights. People pulled over on the other side of the highway, got out of their cars and saluted or covered their hearts. Traffic in Tulsa literally shut down for you guys - you both are that well respected.
I know we all feel like there is a hole in our hearts but every time I start to feel overwhelmed I think back throughout my entire life and you and Chuck were both there. It seems like yesterday that your dad was at my wedding and you were coming home from Guam. Everything is kind of jumbled together but they are all great memories. I miss you both already.
I love you guys and thanks for keeping an eye out for us - even now.

My heart goes out to Larry's family, fiance, as well as the Sapulpa Police Department. Its not easy dealing with such a tragedy, and I hope that none of us ever have to go through this again. We all know that it is a part of the job that Larry loved so much. He is one of the best officers I have seen fit in so fast. He was very giving of himself. We all just need to remember that he has a piece of all of our hearts with him. When Larry came onto the department he was just another rookie, but it didn't take long at all for him to become one of the guys. We all loved him very much and will never forget him, his life, the things he loved, or the things he stood for.
Larry,
You will be missed beyond belief, however we will see you again some day. Watch over us and keep us safe. Continue your service duty on the streets of heaven. You will always be kept close to my heart.

I had the extreme pleasure of working with Larry for his 18 months on SPD. As most could tell, he was a very dedicated and caring individual who was excited about his job. Larry left a long lasting impression on many of us, one that will live on as long as we are alive to remember him. He was dedicated to his job, fellow officers, and his family without question. Larry quickly became a "go to" guy that would never let you down when you needed something done. He was a cops cop, a true friend, and a caring person. He put others first so many times, long before he would think of himself. Larry unfortunately left us with many questions, one's that we will probably not be able to answer. But we must come to terms with this tragedy and move on. I know that Larry would expect nothing less and would do the same thing. Larry and his father were extremely close, sharing a special relationship, and I know that even though they are no longer with us, they are still sharing that same relationship now for eternity. I feel that I am a better person for having known Larry Cantrell and will never forget the times that we shared. His family will be in my prayers, and I will strive each day to be the best officer that I can be. This is what I know he would do!! 339 will be a part of me always! Rest in Peace and we will meet again someday!

Hey Buddy, I miss you.
Yesterday we layed you to rest. It was the second worst day of my life. I remember a few days ago we went to dinner together. I had an explorer with me and he asked how I could stand to sit with my back to the door. I told him I knew Larry had my back. I still do!. I love you brother. I am praying for your family and know they are proud of you and your Dad. I am so proud to have known and worked with you.

Our Greatest Fear
Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
"Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again, I hold back a tear.
They patrol in the state, city, county and town,
in uniforms colored white, green, blue and brown.
the shape of their badges may vary,
but it’s a symbol that they all, proudly carry.
They leave for work with a kiss goodbye,
but some don’t come home, no matter how hard they try.
To uphold the law is the job that they pick,
with such high aspirations, why must some die so quick?
They leave behind loved ones, family and friends,
after their lives have met tragic ends.
Some die in crashes, others hearts not too stout,
to many have been lost when gunshots ring out.
Our Heavenly Father has called them home,
no more these dark streets do they roam.
Through trial and error they have given their best,
please Lord, now grant them eternal rest.
Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
" Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again I hold back a tear.
