My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of need. It is a concern of all families of police officers that this type of tragedy will occur. They need to understand that we, as officers, are dedicated and will serve to protect them and others, and that is what you have done. I admire you, without even knowing you. Your Tour of Duty may have ended here on earth, but rest assure you will always be serving and protecting with your memory! May God Bless

Travel swift through heaven, your time on our earth was heroic. Your greatness was only overcome by the shortness of time on our earth!

May you rest in peace our brother and your family know that you did so much with your time spent on earth and for that we are all thankful.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

I started as a police officer at age 20. When I look at Scot's picture I see me only a few years ago.

Even though I didn't know him, my heart still feels the pain for the death of a brother.

Officer Beyerstedt,

Drill Sergeant/PSO Christensen emailed me about your sudden death and I was deeply moved. There is no doubt that the gates of Heaven needed a motivated and dedicated officer to guard the Gates of Heaven. Remember your training as you stand with St. Michael. Until we meet again, stay proud, we have your shift from here.

Mr. and Mrs. Beyerstedt and Family,

It has been a tough summer for KVCC law enforcement graduates. The untimely death of your son Scot saddened us all.
While there is nothing I could say that would lessen your loss, I thought it might help to know that Scot died doing what he really wanted to do in life.

As one of his instructors, I recognized the heartfelt enthusiasm Scot had for his career choice. This is indicative of someone who has received a calling not someone who has just sought out a job.

Scot was respected by his peers and instructors alike and this respect extended to his employment situations and amongst his fellow officers.
My experience with Scot was very positive. He was a very nice young man of good character and moral upbringing. He embodied the qualities we need in law enforcement.

It truly is a tragedy that his time on the job was so short. I hope someday you may find comfort in knowing that Scot died serving his community in the finest traditions of his chosen career, law enforcement.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you.

Respectfully,
Jeff Shouldice
