Another instance of a great life taken by some low life. This is becoming the case far to often.
We will take the watch from here, Officer Reeves. Rest assured that those who are responsible shall pay dearly.
My condolences to your family, loved ones, and the members of the Newark Police Department.

Officer Reeves:
As a police officer in a neighbooring town, and an EMT for UMDNJ in Newark, your death hit me rather hard. It can happen to any of us at anytime. The articles in the paper all say the same thing. Standup guy, good cop. Know that the cowards that murdered you will get their dues, not from man, but from God. Rest in peace.

I visit this site often with the hopes that its list will not get longer. When I see a new name on the list my heart drops to the floor knowing that another Father, Mother, Son, Daughter, etc.. has given their life in the line of duty. It continually brings tears to my eyes when I read the personal reflections that are left by the fallen Officer's Family and Friends. I hope you can rest easy knowing that this brave HERO is watching over us from his place in Heaven. He served with honor and will never be forgotten. Rest Easy Officer Reeves . We will truly miss you. God Bless you and your Family.

Judgment Day for a Police Officer
.....Author Unknown
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my Church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
Can't always be a Saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my work was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep,
I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the Throne
Where the Saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
REST IN PEACE DWAYNE-WE LOVED YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!

Dwayne, you and I go back to 6th grade at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament in East Orange. Remember Keisha, Gus and Dwayne. We were inseparable! I was deeply sadden to see that yet another one of my brothers in blue has been taken away before his time. Dwayne I wish that yesterday did not happen but God has taken over your journey now. Rest in peace my brother and know that no matter how far we were from one another, no matter what our destinies in life were to be, you were always just one thought away.
Here's to you Dwayne Anthony Reeves
WHEN GOD MAE POLICE OFFICERS
When the Lord was creating Police Officers, He was into his sixth day of overtime when an angel appeared and said, "You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one."
And the Lord said, "Have you read the requirements on this order? A Police Officer has to be able to run five miles through alleys in the dark, scale walls, enter homes the health inspector wouldn't touch, and not wrinkle their uniform."
"They have to be able to sit in an undercover car all day on a stakeout, cover a homicide scene that night, canvass the neighborhood for witnesses, and testify in court the next day."
"They have to be in top physical condition at all times, running on black coffee and half-eaten meals, and they have to have six pairs of hands."
The angel shook her head slowly and said, "Six pairs of hands . . . no way!!"
"It's not the hands that are causing me problems," said the Lord, "it's the three pairs of eyes an officer has to have."
"That's on the standard model?" asked the angel.
The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees through a bulge in a pocket before they ask, 'May I see what's in there, sir?'"
(when they already know and wish they'd taken that accounting job) "Another pair here in the side of their head for their partner's safety, and another pair of eyes here in front so they can look reassuringly at a bleeding victim and say, 'You'll be alright, ma'am,' when they know it isn't so."
"Lord," said the angel, touching His sleeve, "rest and work on this tomorrow." "I can't," said the Lord, "I already have a model that can talk a 250 pound drunk into a patrol car without incident and feed a family of five on a civil service paycheck."
The angel circled the model of the Police Officer very slowly. "Can it think?" she asked.
"You bet," said the Lord, "it can tell you the elements of a hundred crimes, recite Miranda warnings in its sleep, detain, investigate, search, and arrest a gang member on the street in less time than it takes five learned judges to debate the legality of the stop . . . and still it keeps its sense of humor.
This officer also has phenomenal personal control. They can deal with crime scenes painted in hell, coax a confession from a child abuser, comfort a murder victim's family, and then read in the daily paper how law enforcement isn't sensitive to the rights of criminal suspects."
Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek of the Police Officer. "There's a leak," she pronounced, "I told you that you were trying to put too much into this model."
"That's not a leak," said the Lord. "It's a tear."
"What's the tear for?" asked the angel.
"It's for bottled-up emotions, for fallen comrades, for commitment to that funny piece of cloth called the American flag, for justice."
"You're a genius," said the angel.
The Lord looked somber. "I didn't put it there," He said.

Rest in peace my brother. The thin blue line has gotten thinner. I hope that society reverses these horrible trends before it is too late. Such senseless acts like this are taking over. More and more stories like this are destroying lives. It has to hit home for them too, you would think eventually. Our prayers to the family and friends.

Officer Reeves, your sacrifice shows that, no matter where you work or who pays your salary, when you do the job, you do the job. You did the job. Your family should be proud, though sadness is what dominates right now. God bless you for all eternity for your efforts to make a small part of America safer and more secure and know well that, we're all in the same boat and just baling to keep afloat. The bucket you used for that purpose will be passed to another, but you can NEVER be replaced.

I did not know Dwayne, but would like to offer my condolences to his friends and extended family who may read this.
There is no doubt in my mind that Dwayne took the place of that teenage girl involved in the fight. Had he not been there and took the action he did, she would have been shot to death, and the shooters probably would have escaped.
He truly made the ultimate sacrifice.

The news of another brother who's life has come to an end by another senseless act of violence. You will always be remembered, never forgotten. Thank you brother for your service. I'm sure the Newark School Dist. was a safer place for the kids, because of you. God bless your partner. Help him get thru this as well as your family. God Speed, brother.

Our Greatest Fear
Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
"Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again, I hold back a tear.
They patrol in the state, city, county and town,
in uniforms colored white, green, blue and brown.
The shape of their badges may vary,
but it’s a symbol that they all, proudly carry.
They leave for work with a kiss goodbye,
but some don’t come home, no matter how hard they try.
To uphold the law is the job that they pick,
with such high aspirations, why must some die so quick?
They leave behind loved ones, family and friends,
after their lives have met tragic ends.
Some die in crashes, others hearts not too stout,
to many have been lost when gunshots ring out.
Our Heavenly Father has called them home,
no more these dark streets do they roam.
Through trial and error they have given their best,
please Lord, now grant them eternal rest.
Yet once again the Thin Blue Line is diminished,
an officer’s final tour of duty is finished.
"Officer down", it’s our greatest fear,
and once again I hold back a tear.

Policeman's Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael, Heaven's glorious Commission of Police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's
premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eye on your earthly force.
Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgement.
Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.
You know, St. Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so please God, your hard knocks the so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.
And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God, as we have been to guard the city of men.
Amen
