Reflections for Patrolman George M. Yeager
When I was very young, probably 7 or 8, I visited my grandparents in Queens, NY. While there we were playing in the basement and discovered an officers baton. At that age I was surprised at how big it was. We pretended to be police officers and tried twirling the baton as if walking a beat.
We were scolded for playing with the baton. I asked where did it come from. I was told it was my grandfather’s uncle’s baton. He was a New York policeman. I was surprised by this but also confused. Who was this man?
I came to find out many years later that the baton belonged to my Great Grand Uncle George Yeager. Officer Yeager you are not forgotten. Your family is rightfully proud of your service. Rest In Peace.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 107th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
