Todd, I was working in the construction zone I-40 West approx. 25 miles from your incident. I started seeing all the THP "Black & Tans" rolling like thunder towards you and I knew something had happened to a Trooper. I called an academy classmate of yours, Trooper Tim Scott, and inquired. He returned my call with the inevitable, "We lost a good one today, Trooper Todd Larkins." I prayed for you and your family then and will continue to do so. I met you on an Interdiction stop a while back. You will be missed by many and mourned by all. Say hello to Officer Dedman from Metro P.D. and Trooper John Mann when you get to Heaven. Let them know we will ALL gather one day and tell the tall cop tales that only cops can tell. May God lay his healing hand on your family and friends. Bless you my brother as we prepare for your funeral to give you the honor and respect you have truly earned. Until we meet again.....

TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord ! Keep the day/night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent upon me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. *** REST IN PEACE ***

Today a nation cries and today a nation is less. I heard of this tragic accident only hours after it happened and could only sit with my head in my hands praying for the so many people close to you. Trooper Micah Board called me from the scene and gave me the news. He later came to my house and I could see the sadness in his eyes and my heart broke. May God rest his hand on all those close to Todd. I never meet him but he was a Brother to me all the same. To his family, I will direct my prayers and my thoughts to you for I know the pain you are going through. Todd your life is an inspiration to us all and my friend know that we will all take it from here so rest easy and save us a seat.
