Reflections for Trooper Todd Michael Larkins
Tonight I pray for you Todd, Alicia, your daughter, and your family, and for the The Tennessee Highway Patrol Officers and all of Law Enforcement. I pray that God will be with each of you during this time of hurt and pain. Todd, like the rest of us, has seen enough bad and evil to last a lifetime, but his goodness that he had done will also be remembered a lifetime. Thank you Todd, and thank you Alicia, for giving of yourselves to the citizens of this great state of Tennessee, and the sacrifices that you both have made. And thanks to my fellow officers for all you are doing, and for remembering Todd and Alicia and their family during their time of need. May God Bless You Trooper Todd Larkins, we're all proud of your service.

Todd,
I had the pleasure of meeting you on several occassions. You even worked a minor wreck that I had a few years ago.Alot of times when someone dies tragically, you always hear on the news how good of a person they were...even if no one liked them. But in your case, you were truly a class act, professional and frinedly. Never once have I ever brought your name up and a bad thing was said. Your name was always followed by,"he is a great guy!"My heart stopped when second I heard the news..To your family: I am truly sorry, for nothing I say can or will stop the pain and the heart ache.Only time and the Good Lord can do that. Rest in Peace Trooper Larkins.

Such a tragedy. This happens more often than it should. My heart and my prayers go out to those that you left behind, your wife and child especially as this was yet another senseless loss of life. I am so sorry to hear about another officer so close to home. Obviously Trooper Larkins' family, friends, coworkers, and other loved ones will be in my thoughts and prayers. No one can prepare you for the road ahead, and nothing I could possibly say will ease the pain, heartache, and confusion. Just know that you are not alone. There are many other survivors who will support you in your grief journey, and you now have a special guardian angel. Take care of yourselves, and wake up each morning only focusing on taking it day by day (and sometimes just minute by minute).
Love and prayers,

Todd, I never got the pleasure to know you. I'm so sorry I was not there for you on the day God took you away but as you know I work in Chattanooga and it is very far away. I cried when I heard the news about you. I wish I was there, to tell you to jump or pull you aside. You will always walk by my side and be in my heart. I'll never forget you. May God be with your family. Save me a place. I'll see you someday. RIP my brother. We'll take it from here!

WE HAVE THE WATCH
For many years
this officer stood the watch...
While some of us lay about at night,
this officer stood the watch...
While others of us were attending schools and,
yes, even before some of us were born,
this officer stood the watch...
As our families watched the storm clouds of public decay
brewing on the horizons of his community,
he stood the watch...
Often he would look at his family
needed his guidance, but he knew he must stay because,
he had the watch...
For many years he stood the watch so that we
and our community could sleep soundly
in safety knowing that this officer would
stand the watch.
Today we are here to say...
"The watch stands relieved..."
Relieved by those you have led, guided, and trained...
OFFICER!
"You stand relieved...
We have the watch."

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"
