Sgt. McEntee,

Sir, I come to this page often praying that another name will not be added to this list. I know however that the job we do requires heros being willing to go where few dare to go. Your brothers in blue will never forget you and will bring vengance on the evil waste of life that did this. You are the best this life has to offer. "Poi si 'torno 'all eterna fontana."

To the family, friends, and co-workers of Sgt. William McEntee: My deepest sympathy on the loss of your officer.
"One thing I know. The only ones among you who will be truly happy are those who have sought and found a way to serve." Albert Schweitzer. Although Dr. Schweiter was not a peace officer, still, I believe that he knew the meaning of service.
Sgt. McEntee did not lose his life-he gave it in service. Nothing can ever replace your officer, but I pray that memories of him in happy times will help to ease the pain you're feeling now.
Rest in peace, and God speed, Brother. You will never be forgotten.

Rest In Peace. ~Romans 13:4 NIV

Special Agent Darin L. Paul

July 6, 2005

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

I am so sorry for the family of Officer McEntee. Nick Sloan, a police officer in St. Louis city, killed in 2004, was a close friend of mine. Watching the news reports last night brought back a flood of memories from the day Nick died. I only hope that the family of this officer can take comfort in the flood of support that is sure to come their way, and in knowing that Nick is surely helping Officer McEntee learn the ropes in heaven. While the next few years will be extremely difficult, I only hope that the family of this officer will carry on and remember that there are citizens that are SO VERY THANKFUL for the work done by these officers. It can be a very thankless job, and it takes a very special individual to do it. Nick was--and I'm sure officer McEntee was as well. My deepest sympathy goes to the family and I know that there are people such as myself who have never met you or your loved one, but I guaratee we will think about you on a daily basis. God bless.

Jessica
