SGT....as promised, YOUR brothers caught the...(well, no words can even describe the "individual" who did this to you/your family/the community/and US) But the main thing is...the "individual" has been caught. Unfortunately he was able to walk into the Headquarters building. As a fellow Law Enforcement brother to you, and all the Police Officers who assisted in the manhunt, I can not express the amount of appreciation to them for their excellent work in taking this "individual" off the street. Great work, brothers! You all deserve the highest recognition for the hard work you put into bringing this "individual" in! SGT. you know you will be in our memory forever. I feel a sence of guilt, only wishing I could of been there to HELP you Sgt., done something to prevent this, been next to you, been in the area, just something to prevent this tragic event from occuring. This coward had to cheap shot you! We have a feeling of anger, however since we are held to a higher standard, we have to keep it supressed. Im not sure why im even calling him a coward...he doesnt even deserve to be called that, he is not good enough to be called a coward. He is less than that. There is absolutely no words to describe this "individual" Speaking of no words....there is no words to describe the "gap" that our hearts feel, when a brother falls. It takes something from each and every one of us. Speaking of taking something away...As they were taking this "individual" away, I hope they had to atleast stop at the hospital for a FIT. I am not sure why the "individual" was even able to walk into the Headquarters building. He does not even deserve to walk. Sgt. as you can see, this individual has caused us grief, his time is comming, rest assured. Until we meet Sgt. Rest in peace Sir! Look over us! ~~~Brothers...lets keep each other safe out there...its US vs. THEM, you never know when it can hit the fan! Always, Always, say bye to your loved ones prior to heading out that door.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Sergeant McEntee's fammily and members of the Kirkwood PD. Although many of us did not know you personally, we lost a true hero due to one of the most senseless acts many of us have ever seen. It will never make sense why this happened, however you have made a lasting impact on many lives. It is heroic officers like yourself that push many of us into this field even through terrible times such as this. Today, your killer has been brought to justice! Please watch over those that continue to fight the battle day after day. God bless, you will always be remembered and your sacrafice will NEVER be forgotten! Rest in peace sir.

WHAT IS A COP?

Cops are human ( believe it or not) just like the rest of us. They come in both sexes but mostly male. They also come in various sizes. This sometimes depends on whether you are looking for one or trying to hide something. However, they are mostly big.

Cops are found everywhere-on land, on the sea, in the air, on horses, in cars, sometimes in your hair. In spite of the fact that " you can't find one when you want one", they are usually there when it counts most. The best way to get one is to pick up the phone.

Cops deliver lectures, babies, and bad news. They are required to have the wisdom of solomon, the disposition of a lamb and muscles of steel and are often accused of having a heart to match. He's the one who rings the door-bell, swallows hard and announces the passing of a loved one; then spends the rest of the day wondering why he ever took such a "crummy" job.

On TV, a cop is an oaf who couldn't find a bull fiddle in a telephone booth. In real life he's expected to find a little blond boy " about so high" in a crowd of a half million people. In fiction, he gets help from private eyes, reporters, and who-dun-it fans." In real life, mostly all he gets from the public is " I didn't see nuttin'."

When he serves a summons, he's a monster. If he lets you go, he's a doll. To little kids, he's either a friend or a bogeyman, depending on how the parents feel about it. He works " around the clock", split shifts, Sundays and holidays, and it always kills him when a joker says. " Hey tomorrow is Election Day, I'm off, let's go fishing" ( that's the day he works 20 hours).

A cop is like the little girl, who, when she was good, was very, very good, but, when she was bad, was horrid. When a cop is good, " he's getting paid for it." When he makes a mistake, " he's a grafter, and that goes for the rest of them too." When he shoots a stick-up man he's a hero, except when the stick-up man is " only a kid, anybody coulda seen that."

Lots of them have homes, some of them covered with ivy, but most of them covered with mortgages. If he drives a big car, he's a chiseler; a little car, "who's he kidding?" His credit is good; this is very helpful, because his salary isn't. Cops raise lots of kids; most of them belong to other people.

A cop sees more misery, bloodshed, trouble, and sunrises than the average person. Like the postman, cops must also be out in all kinds of weather. His uniform changes with the climate, but his outlook on life remains about the same: mostly a blank, but hoping for a better world.

Cops like days off, vacations, and coffee. They don't like auto horns, family fights, and anonymous letter writers. They have unions, but they can't strike. They must be impartial, courteous, and always remember the slogan " At your service." This is sometimes hard, especially when a character reminds him, " I'm a taxpayer, I pay your salary."

Cops get medals for saving lives, stopping runaway horses, and shooting it out with the bandits ( once in a while his widow gets the medal). But sometimes, the most rewarding moment comes when, after some small kindness to an older person, he feels the warm hand clasp, looks into grateful eyes and hears, " Thank you and God bless you, son."

To Bill, my Sergeant, my friend, my hero. I will never understand why this happened. I will never be able to tell you how much you ment to me, but I promise when I make to heaven later in life, the beers are on me. To all of our brothers in the Police community, Mac's family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts. I was one of the last ones to see Bill alive and one of the first to find him when he fell. Bill was answering my call, in my district because I was in court dealing with prisoners. Bill also called another officer off of the call because he was closer. I can only speek for myself, but I'm sure the other Officer will agree that You MAC spared our lives that night and I am forever in your debt. I Love you Brother.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and closest friends of Sgt William McEntee. Be assured, he will rest in peace as a fallen hero. Personally, I have never encountered such a loss at my PD, so I cannot even imagine what his brothers feel at the Kirkwood Police Department. God works in mysterious ways, he has his reasons for what he does. Why he took one of our beloved brothers, who knows. And according to the story, this is exactly why we should always stand our guard, even on a simple fireworks complaint. I am not saying that Sgt William McEntee did anything wrong that night, but as all cops know, society has us in a fishbowl now, and a lot of us are scared to take out our weapons and point them at a subject. It's your life, not theirs, protect it, and each others, for as WE ONLY HAVE EACH OTHER TO PROTECT!!!
