By looking at some of the other reflections, it appears that Sergeant McEntee was a believer in Jesus Christ. With that in mind, times like these are hard to accecpt, however we must remember that the Lord is in control of all things. When you look at life we must remember that our time here is short and just a training ground for eternity. While we may not understand why these things are allowed to happen, when you look at the broader picture and realize that we never die, that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord; we can see that this is not the end for him, but a new beginning. I always thought these tragedies were so unfair; until I realized that we will see our loved ones again some day. While the Lord did not cause this, he did allow it to happen. We must comfort each other in the fact that the Officer is in a much better place. We will all live forever. It is our choice where we choose to spend eternity. As for the low life sub human scum that did this to him, he will stand before a judge from our messed up judicial system and probably get less than what he deserves. But remember this, one day he will stand before the rightous judge who will not allow plea bargins, reduced sentences, or early release. Vengence is mine, I will repay saith the Lord.

Bill McEntee was a wonderful gift from Our Lord in heaven to all those whom he met. Bill was a devoted father and metor to those whom he coached and he truly was a selfless soul.
It is because of these qualities that it is so hard to lose Bill. Although his mortal body is gone from our grasp
his spirit lives on and is strengthened in all of our hearts.
To Mrs. McEntee, Bill's three children, his mother and mother-in-law, his cousin Tim, the Kirkwood Community, and St. Simon's Parish I would like to extend my family's deepest sympathy and assure you that Bill will ALWAYS be in our hearts and prayers. Our memories of Bill will always be that of a kind and caring man with a heart of GOLD.

The coward who did this had to call a "friend" to help him to safe haven...would have been a far different outcome had he allowed Sgt. McEntee the same option.
God Bless the family, friends, and co-workers of Sgt. McEntee. May time help to heal your wounds and memories of the good times sustain you.

Mac was my Sgt. when I was an officer with Kirwood only a couple years ago. I grieve with my brothers at Kirkwood. I try to remember the good times...remember the time he crashed his police car and we took him out for a beer and put that silly bicycle "crash" helmet on his 6'5" frame. I will always remember you, Mac. Some day we will all have a beer together again.

As my wife and I drove through the city of Kirkwood this morning we thought of Sgt Mcentee and how his life was taken so tragically. We looked for some type of memorial, but couldn't find one. We wanted to pay our respects somehow.
When I got to my computer, I looked for any information about this tragedy, how did this happen and has this coward who took the officers life been caught. I instantly was directed to this site. I am very moved by the out-pouring of love and support, mainly from people who didn't even know Sgt Mcentee. It truly makes me envious of these brave people who belong to a profession where there is so much comradery. A real Brotherhood. I think everyone wishes they could be a part of something like that. I have a friend who is a police officer in Webster Groves, a city next to Kirkwood. I want to let him know right now that I have great respect for him and what he does every day.
Sometimes it takes a tragedy to remind us who the true heroes are out there. Its not the actors in Hollywood or the athletes that so many of us seem to look up to. Its the low-paid cop on the beat, the firefighter and last but not least, the members of our armed forces who put it on the line for us everyday.
You guys are all heroes.
May God Bless you Mcentee family

My heart breaks every time I see another one of our own is gone but I feel I must check the Officer Down Memorial Page very often in memory of all my fallen comrades. Having been an officer for over 10 years, I can relate to working the street. The grief is so deep. Though now a Telecommunicator, I wanted to share my poem dedicated to each of them& their families:
Another senseless tragedy
Another day of grief,
Another day of praying
To help us find relief.
Relief from bitter anguish
Relief from rage so great,
Relief from lenient justice
Which continues to seal our fate.
Relief from heartache’s torment
As we continue on,
Oh, the awesome loss of brotherhood
Now that you are gone.
Though our hearts are deeply broken
And our tears forever flow,
There’s a comforting assurance
That now with God you go.
We know that you are welcome
Now at Heaven’s gate,
While meeting brothers & sisters
Who also met such fate.
The family of Law Enforcement
Knows no distance here or there,
As we recall in comfort
You await us there.

My condolences to the family of a true and loyal hero. God bless the family for giving us such a wonderful person and 24 year officer.
For the rest of the officers at Kirkwood Police Dept. Remember our friend and brother William, McEntee he would want us to contineu and serve our country as he would.
God bless you all, stay safe today, tomorrow and always.
I recently returned from a 15 month tour in Iraq, so I know how it feels to loose a friend, brother, partner and soldier. My heart goes out to you for all you do each and every single day for us.
