To Sergeant McEntee's kids:

It breaks my heart to see you guys go through this pain. I was reading the reflections you all had left and it hurts me to know that you all hurt. I have never met you, but I just want you to know that you are all strong people and you will always have your daddy with you. He is your guardian angel and always will be. You just have to keep his spirit alive by sharing stories about him and talking about memories you all had together. Whatever you do, NEVER doubt that he is not with you. There will be some really hard days and you just have to tell yourself that you can get through it. I don't know what it is like to lose a dad, but I lost one of my close friends in the line of duty. He also left behind a child that is now going to be 3. I will share so many stories with him so that he can remember that his daddy was a hero. Your daddy is also a hero and will never be forgotten in the community. Stay strong and be there for each other as you start this long journey. I will always keep you guys in my thoughts.

3 Months.............everyday my heart still hurts. Everyday I salute your heroism. Everyday I embrace the courage you displayed on July 5th. Speaking of courage you should see it grow in Mary everyday, as she faces each day and challenge. The love she has for Katie, Brendan and Conor is amazing. If you were standing here today I know you would wrap your arms around her, giving her a great big hug and say "your doing great Mar, keep up the good work".

October 5, 2005

its hard to believe its been 3 mos. today that we lost you.The pain is the same as it was that nightand everyone misses you terribly. This is your monthand that makes everyone miss you even more.keep watching over us and we will come out to see you on the 21st

To the family and friends of Sgt. William McEntee and his fellow officers in the Kirkwood Police Department:

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Sgt. McEntee was so brutally murdered. Bill's valor and dedication to his job will be forever remembered. I hope that you will see the full measure of justice rendered for the horrific crime that took his life. It won't bring him back, but he deserves no less than the full measure of justice our legal system provides.

May you find comfort in the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. Reading the reflections about Bill shows how well loved he was by so many, what a wonderful family man he was, and how much he was respected by his peers.

We grieve for you and with you. Our family shares your anquish as our beloved Larry Lasater was killed this past April when shot during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers. The bullets that kill our loved ones don't just take away their life, they take away a part of us. Everyone who loves our fallen officers are forever changed.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the many years of service Sgt. McEntee gave to his community and the citizens of Missouri, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 5, 2005.

Hi Bill,

Just wanted to let you know you would have been SO proud of Katie, Brendan and Conor the other night - they all threw out the first pitch at the baseball game - they all threw strikes! But I know you already knew that because you were right there on the field with them and Mary. I couldn't help but think you were right there catching the ball, like you have done with them so many times. We all miss you so much. I will talk to you again soon.

Hey Mac,
It's that pesky fireman again. Hey I was wondering if I could ask you a small favor. My little nephew, Brennan, resting in peace a few hundred yards from you. Do you mind taking him by the hand and watching out over him. I know nothing can happen to him now but knowing your up there with him makes me feel that much better. Well it would be better if you two were still here with us. But your in a better place now. Like I said the first time I still think about you every day and also Mary and the Kids. When I'm not on here talking to you I'll be visiting you at Resurection each time I visit my little Nephew. I would be honored to to look out for and help Mary and the kids. From what I hear, Jackie is doing a great job of that already, along with the rest of your police brothers and sisters. But I am willing to help out anyway I can. Take care my Bother and give Little Neph a kiss from Uncle Bill.

My father, a 40 year police veteran, allways says us coppers all smell the same. He meant every police officer is one of ús. We all share the need to serve and protect. We all stand for what is right. Therefore every police officer that is killed while doing what he thinks is right is a loss to all police officers around the world.

I wish strength to those near to Sergeant McEntee and hope they can pick up their lives.

In the Netherlands every police batch carries these words: Vigilat ut Quiescant. He guards so they can rest. Sergeant McEntee guarded but now must rest.

On the other side of the globe, in the spirit of sergeant McEntee and in honour of all police officers remembered on this page, I will keep on guarding.

Brigadier of the Rotterdam Police.

We were on the same shift when Bill was just a "pup" starting out 19 years ago at Kirkwood. He could always make me laugh. In his memory - this was written from Kwd Police to Bill.

Mac"

The measure of Bill McEntee was not how tall he stood,
To friends and family whom Bill touched, this fact was understood.

Bill's depth of soul, his character, embodied his large frame.
With heart of gold, this gentle soul, was tragically reclaimed.

Six foot five, with sergeant stripes emblazoned on his sleeve,
Contagious laugh, & booming voice described Bill McEntee.

Just fory-three, his life cut short, by one cruel and senseless act.
We question why? We scream, we cry! We mourn the loss of Mac.

Through our pain, deep down inside, it's comforting to know,
That Jesus cradled William's face, NO Bill was not alone!

Jesus never left Mac's side, HE whispered "we must go."
And lovingly, he took Bill's hand and guided Mac back home.

And waitng there, with beer in hand, perhaps Von Hatten smiled
And said "hey Mac, I missed ya, have a seat and stay a while."

But NOW we're filled with sadness and such devastating pain,
And even through these tear we know, some day we'll meet again.

So Mac, we won't forget you, we were proud to call you friend.
We're at a loss to understand your senseless, tragic end.

All of Kirkwood rallies round to offer you our THANKS.
You have left an aching void within the Kirkwood Ranks.

Chief Plummer, and the Kirkwood Police were proud to serve with you.
You measured MORE than six foot five. Godbye! Ten-forty-two!
