Jerry was one of my best friends. Someone I could always count on when I was sad or who I wanted to share a happy time with, and that beautiful smile, who could resist that smile. My heart and prayers go out to his two sons, family, and wife. His life was cut short, it's unfair, I'm sorry for your loss.
The loss of my friend has left my life filled with sadness. I'm devastated.
Jerry is a beautiful loving person. He is all heart. He will never be forgotten.
Jerry, this is not a good-bye, but a "see you later". Please watch over all of us here. Until then I'll miss you my friend.

My husband is a deputy with Franklin Parish Sheriff's Department in Winnsboro, LA. He has served there for 12 years, and is about to be 35. We have two children as well. My husband just lost his second friend and coworker in less than a year to gunfire on Friday. When I read your husband's page, I felt compelled to let his family know that there are people out there who are deeply sorry for your loss. Your husband was a hero in the truest sense of the word. Know that you are in our prayers. Many people don't appreciate the sacrifice made by these men of honor, who place themselves in harm's way every day for our safety, but I do. God bless you.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to This Officer, as well as the Family, Friends, Department and Community.
This is a loss that will never be forgotten. Hours will turn into days, days turn into weeks, weeks into months and months into years but, the difference that these officers have made will last forever.
We lost Our Deputy Morris Taylor on September 14, 2002. When he joined the other Angels in Blue.

By viewing these hundreds of reflections for this man it is obvious that some were born to touch and change peoples lives, and even though he may be in a different place now the good he has done and the lives he has changed will surely be seen in the future as those he touched "pay it forward" to change others lives .And you shall see him in their lives, I am sure he is smiling now..Be proud Jerry.

Hey bro, its me again.I know you don't know me, but you are getting to. I just wanted to go back to something that His Eminence Cardinal Roger Mahoney said at your funeral... "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God." This was my senior quote that was printed in the Damien yearbook. You were a peacemaker, and a child of God. The Cardinal was right on, and the deputy who put that verse out oved the computers after your death, was right on. Please look after me as i move forward in my life, and please help stop the violence here on earth. thank you.

My heart breaks every time I see another one of our own is gone but I feel I must check the Officer Down Memorial Page very often in memory of all my fallen comrades. Having been an officer for over 10 years, I can relate to working the street. The grief is so deep. Though now a Telecommunicator, I wanted to share my poem dedicated to each of them& their families:
Another senseless tragedy
Another day of grief,
Another day of praying
To help us find relief.
Relief from bitter anguish
Relief from rage so great,
Relief from lenient justice
Which continues to seal our fate.
Relief from heartache’s torment
As we continue on,
Oh, the awesome loss of brotherhood
Now that you are gone.
Though our hearts are deeply broken
And our tears forever flow,
There’s a comforting assurance
That now with God you go.
We know that you are welcome
Now at Heaven’s gate,
While meeting brothers & sisters
Who also met such fate.
The family of Law Enforcement
Knows no distance here or there,
As we recall in comfort
You await us there.

Jerry I didn't know you personally, but my Boss, Jose Perez, did. He grew up with you in El Monte. He remembers the day you graduated the Acadamy and on your way home you stopped by on a Harley that you had just purchased. He said you were so excited and proud of your accomplishment and that you were looking foward to starting your future with LACS. Jose wanted to write something special but he's devastated with the loss of such a beautiful Human Being. We at First American Title Customer Service got to know you through Jose from his memories you. You grew into a responsible and honorable man and sworn to Serve and Protect us from those who in turn took your life.
The Heavens are so lucky to have another Angel like you.
To your beautiful wife Chela and Kids and family: May the Lord give you strength, you now have your personal Angel in Heaven who is watching over you.
