Happy Birthday Jerry! This day will never go by without me thinking of you. I was daydreaming the other day and had a flashback of the days when we use to play all day back in Cudahy. I could actually smell the wet grass from our backyard. Whenever I think of those times, the Ortiz family is such a part of my memories. When our moms use to walk me and Tury to Kindergarten, you and Bobby were in strollers. If only I could go back and stop and reach down to that stroller and hug you’re cute little face. I didn’t realize back then how special our time was. Again, happy birthday. May you be celebrating this special day with Jesus. My thoughts as always are with you and your family.

My anger has somewhat subsided.

I still have a CDC-R documentary that details the thankless job, the dangers, and that fateful day in Chino.

I still discuss that fateful day in Hawaiian Gardens with less-tenured personnel.

I will NEVER forget the names Jose Luis Orozco and John Blaylock, what they did, and what happened to the two of You.

I also will NEVER stop being hard on my buddy who is CDC-R, reminding him to hone his skills.

Hi Jerry,
Last time I spoke to you was at the Boxing match. We spoke of going to OSS and the academy days. As I look back, our lives ran parallel. We had the same birthday, got married about the same time, and our careers were headed in the same direction. It hurts to think of how your life was cut short when you were in your prime. I know I could never be at your level, but I try. We have a picture of you in our office that I look at everyday. I will never forget about you.
