As the father of a veteran police officer, the sobering truth is that these officers lay their lives on the line every hpour of every day to protect us. May God bless and look over his family. No amount of grievance will alleviate their pain, but we stand with you in your hour of grief.

I would like to extend deepest sympathy to Cpl. Gaughans family and co workers of PG Police. He died a true hero, never backing down from the face of danger. God bless you sir, the men and women of DC Metropolitan Police salute you.

Again, we have lost a great person (Cpl. Gaughan) who choose to spend 18 years of his life protecting others;....and now on this day we mourn the loss of a person who was clearly a blessing to many victims and all the people that knew him...in the community he served.

May God Bless the family and all of those dear to him that are left behind to carrying on the blessings. Know that he is still with you in your hearts and is watching over you....Right now!

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

You may not realize it, but you were a legend on this police department. I remember going through the academy, listening to Mike Brady tell stories about you two locking the world up. He bragged on and on about you. You were a cops cop! Our hearts are heavy with grief, but know this...your death will not be in vain!
