To the Family, Friends and Co-Workers of Deputy Sheriff Griffin, I want to express my deepest sympathy in the loss of your loved one.
There's A Reason
For every pain that we must bear,
For every burden, every care,
There is a Reason.
For every grief that bows the head,
For every tear drop that is shed,
There is a Reason.
For every hurt, for every plight,
For every lonely, pain-rack night,
There is a Reason.
But if we trust God as we should,
It all will work out for our good,
For He knows the Reason.
We can't understand or know the reason, but we must put our trust in God that He knows the reason. We who have walked this path ahead of you bear your hurt and pain and will remember you in our thoughts and prayers.
God bless you, your family and Co-workers.

George... I don't know how or where to start. You are one of a kind, there was never a dull moment with you. You knew how to make others look on the brighter side of thing, always made them smile. You was always there when I needed back-up or just needed someone to talk to. For that I am very greatful. We are all better officers for having known you. You have taught us a lot.
George, Don't worry about things here for your watch is done. We will take over from here. I will always remember you.

For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Romans 13:4
George when I first got to you I knew you were hurt bad. I only wish we could have done more for you. You are a minister for God. Carry you sword high and watch over us that contuine to do the work. We carry our swords in you honor now. I pray for your family and friends. May God give them strength. In you honor always

Where does one begin........George, 517, you were always there to help whenever anyone called, I remember one time when I needed help, and you were there you were the first one to arrive at the scene of an accident that I was involved in and even though I don't remember how the wreck happened, I remember hearing your calming voice and you were telling me that you were there and that I was going to be ok. I will always remember that, you were good friend and I feel like it was a priviledge and a very great honor to have served with you, I am a better police officer and more important, a better person for having known you. You and your family are in our thoughts and our prayers. The watch is ours now, so rest easy my brother, you are gone, but you will never be forgotten

A Part Of America Died......
A police offier died today and part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried with him at his side.
The criminals he busted will stand up in court with counsel demanding their rights, while a widowed mother must work for her kids and spend many long, lonely nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield too, just as if he had gone off to war; though the flags of our nation won't fly half mast, to his name they will add a gold star.
Yep, another police officer died today, in your town or in mine, while we slept in comfort behind our locked doors...a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city , and he stands at each new rookie's side; He answered the call, of himself gave his all - and part of America died.
George,
You were geniune, truely a very good man. It was an honor to know him. Your loss is felt throughout the Law Enforcement Community. Know that your family has been and will continue to be in our prayers. God Bless and RIP my friend.

My fiancé, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis was a Deputy Sheriff with the Davis County Sheriff's Office in SE Iowa. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure George did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and George be the last to die this way.
Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Deputy Griffin's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out to you all. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through these tough times, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you and that you are not alone in your "journey". Should you ever need anything please do not hesitate to contact me. (Dennis' department will also always know how to reach me.)
As a fallen officer "survivor" and a friend, please accept my condolences on behalf of myself and the McElderry family. I never got the opportunity to know George but, I am certain George was well respected and well loved. He will live on in the hearts of all the lives he touched. You were lucky to have had him be a part of your lives, even for a short time. I am know that George will continue to watch over us all as only he can.
Thank you Deputy Griffin for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiancé Dennis for me.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)

George, Where do I start to descibe the brother I love and lost? I guess I'll start by saying you are a great officer, willing to help and was never far enough away not to be able to respond to help a brother officer. I am reminded of the 12 weeks we spent as room-mates while in the academy. When you eat together, go to class together, ride each week to and from the academy together you make a bond that is never ending. I appreciate all the times I have noticed you pulling up on a call with me or a traffic stop to make sure everything was ok. I'll never forget the way you spoke of all your family espically your grandchildren. I will never forget that smile you always had even when things weren't going just exactly like you wanted them too. You could always find a little humor in every situation. As I bid farewell to my fellow officer, my friend, my brother, I tell you to rest with God as you are in his presence now. Sleep peacefully and rest assured you done your job well, you are a faithful servent. Greater love doth no man show than when he lays down his life for another. You made that ultimate sacrifice my friend. I love you, rest in God's care.
