Thank-You Pete
When we we're down and out,and raising our kids you were
reasonable.
We couldn't afford tabs and so on.
You gave me a warning, and I respected you.
I took your advise, and did what I had to do to drive
my kids to school and sports.
You made our life better by your mercy.
Thank-You So Much for being so understanding.
You helped us so much.
You will allways be remembered and respected.
We Miss You!

It has been one year since you were called away. For your loved ones that year has seemed like an eternity. You have been in their thoughts every hour of every day, they will never let you be forgotten. Wrap your wings around your loved ones and those still out on patrol and protect them. Also, help them with their grief. You have not been forgotten and are a true hero.

A Pair Of Angel Wings

They carved his name
Into the cold marble wall,
They hung his picture
So proudly in the hall.

The folded the flag
From his burying day,

His mother gently caressed,
Then safely packed it away.

His shiny boots are silent,
No longer echoing in the hall,
Their steps silenced,
By that final call.

His badge now rests
Near his old teddy bear,
With his baseball glove,
And some silky strands of baby hair.

He traded his badge
For a pair of angel wings,

The screams of a siren
For the songs that angels sing.
He rests in the hands of God,
Warmed by heaven’s light,
Watched over by angels,
Through God’s eternal night.

As one of your D.A.R.E. students I never got a chance to thank you. Now I am graduating in the class of 2006, on behalf of the class of 2006 from Wadena - Deer Creek High School I would like to say Thank you so much for all that you taught us. To the family and friends of Officer Peter Resch and his fellow officers in the Wadena Police Department:

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered at the tragic death of Officer Resch. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.

In reading the reflections about Peter, it is obvious he was a man of honor and a man devoted to his family. The picture of his smiling face reflects the memories of those who appreciated his zest for life and his gift of gab, and his willingness to reach out his hands in friendship to others. His peers respected him and so many have fond memories of their times together. Peter will never be forgotten by those who cared about him, nor will he be forgotten by those who honor his courgage and dedication to his job, even if they didn't know him personally.

May you be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you. Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot this past April during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are experiencing. Please know that the brotherhood and sisterhood of law enforcement will be by your side on each step of the journey ahead of you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the many years of service Officer Resch gave to his community and the citizens of Minnesota, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on May 19, 2005 when he gave his life in the line of duty.

Pete was a man with a genuine heart. I can only hope to be half the person that Pete was. Pete could make anyone smile with his fabulous sense of humor. He always saw the cup half full and made sure to pass that positive way of his on to anyone he touched.

May God bless you Pete! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wonderful family.

My fiancé, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis was a Deputy Sheriff with the Davis County Sheriff's Office in SE Iowa. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Peter did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Peter be the last to die this way.

Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Officer Resch's family, friends, and co-workers must be feeling. My heart goes out to you all. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. I wish I could give you a few words of wisdom to help you through these tough times, but there isn't anything I can really say or do to make the situation better. Just know that my thoughts are with you and that you are not alone in your "journey". Should you ever need anything please do not hesitate to contact me. (Dennis' department will also always know how to reach me.)

As a fallen officer "survivor" and a friend, please accept my condolences on behalf of myself and the McElderry family. I never got the opportunity to know Peter but, I am certain Peter was well respected and well loved. He will live on in the hearts of all the lives he touched. You were lucky to have had him be a part of your lives. I am know that Peter will continue to watch over us all as only he can.

Thank you Officer Resch for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiancé Dennis.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne
