Somebody killed a Policeman today,
and part of America died.
A piece of the country he swore to protect
will be buried with him at his side.

The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast,
to his name they will add a gold star.

The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
with counsel demanding his rights;
While a young widowed mother, must work for her kids,
and spend many long, lonely nights.

Yes, someone killed a Policeman today,
maybe in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort, behind our locked doors,
a cop put his life on the line.

Now his ghost walks the beat, on a dark city street,
and he stands by each rookie's side.
He answered the call.....of himself he gave all,
and part of America died.

No one who has ever worn the badge shall be forgotten, not as long as there is always another to pin on a badge and carry on.

I had the honor of working with Donnie, and he will be incredibly missed. Donnie had a passion for life and laughter, and loved being with his wife and two beautiful daughters. Donnie, you gave it all my friend, and we will never forget!

Blessed are the peacemakers...!

What a senseless and brutal attack....My friend that I went to the police academy with was shot in an ambush from behind a couple of years ago too. Where do these animals come from?

My deepest thoughts go to your family, friends, and co-workers during this difficult time! Your brothers in arms will continue this hopeless fight.....Your sacrifice for our society will not be forgotten.

Salute.

When I start my tour of duty wherever crime may be
As I walk the dark streets alone, let me be close to thee
Please give me understanding with both young and old
Let me listen with attention until their stories told
Let me never make a judgment in a rash and callous way
Let me hold my patience let each man have his say
If some dark and dreary night I must give my life
Lord, with your everlasting love
I pray thee protect my children and my wife

Good Speed Detective Young. My thought are with your family.

Walk you beat on heaven's streets...
