Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Detective Donald Ray Young

One day as the crowds were gathering, Jesus went up the hillside with His disciples and sat down and taught them there.
"Humble men are very fortunate!" He
said, "for the Kingdom of Heaven is
given to them. Those who mourn are fortunate for they shall be comforted.
The meek and lowly are fortunate
for the whole wide world belongs to
them. Happy are those who long to be just and good for they shall be
completely satisfied. Happy are the kind and merciful for they shall be shown mercy. Happy are those whose hearts are pure for they shall
see God. Happy are those who strive for peace for they shall be called Sons of God. Happy are those who are persecuted because they are good and the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. When you are reviled and persecuted and lied about because you are My
followers- WONDERFUL! Be happy
about it. Be glad for a tremendous reward awaits you up in Heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets
were persecuted, too." Matt. 5: 1-12

While I was watching Cops tonight (how appropriate) the announcement came on that the U.S. Marshals caught your killer down in Mexico. Finally a little closure, and the hope that he won't hurt anybody else and will face justice. My prayers are still with your family and all of your brothers and sisters in blue.

It's true what they have all been saying..."
Your watch is over, your brothers in blue will take over now" And that they won't let that SOB get away with what he did...

Raul Garcia-Gomez, 19, was captured by U.S. Marshals this evening in Mexico!

Hopefully you can rest a bit easier knowing justice does prevail.

I initially checked this website to see how many officers had been killed in the line of duty in denver to see if it would be a good place to start my law enforcement career. After reading about you and also reading your reflections it is without a doubt an excellent place to start. Thank you for inspiring me and my only hope is that I can live up to the expectation you set for yourself. I look forward to serving in your ranks.

Growing up in Colorado, it was brave men like you that made me want to be a police officer.
Today I work in Phoenix, AZ as a police officer, but the loss of a Colorado hero hits especially close to home.
God bless you and your family.

Det. Young, you better believe none of us will stop looking for this coward until we find him.

It would be wise for the coward to stay out of Phoenix!

God Speed sir.

I wish to offer my condolences to Det. Young's family and friends. Although I did not know him personally it strikes each one of us as a tragedy when one is struck down. I pray for a quick relief for your suffering and always remember with great pride that Det. Young was one who made a difference. You will be in my thoughts and prayers

In the blue corner, fighting out of the Mile High City, Sir Donald Young.

Truly, you were a man who made the badge, not the other way around. You lived life red-lined and easily conveyed a gentleman's spirit. All who met you knew that you were GENUINE. Your spirit will be remembered every time we "glove up".

Oh yeah, the coward will be caught. . .

Your family will be taken good care of brother.

Dear Jack, we need you back soon. Know that we love you and are there for you.

We are blessed and humbled by having known you as a friend. We will never forget.

I was there when you were a new EPSO dep, the boating days in Pueblo, the leg braces we both donned while healing, our weddings and receptions and the BBQs & fondues to go with movie nights.

The years had passed and seeing you w/your new Denver PD crew at the AFA football game...we never missed a beat. I will never forget the laughter and joy you brought to so many. Always a friend to be counted on.

Our hearts and love are with your family.
