Keith,
Tomorrow I must stand in for Bill as we pay our respects to Deputy Longway EOW 9-21-10 HCSO. This will no doubt be difficult and will bring back some painful memories of your service. Bill is so disappointed he cannot be there to support his fallen partner however I know you are keeping watch of him while in Afghanistan. We visited you a couple weeks ago in Marion and we miss you and think of you often. I know a piece of you will be with me tomorrow and please help me stay strong!

Keith,
I wanted to let you know I still think about you often and that smile could never be forgotten. My favorite story is when you arrested (RCSDs infamous prostitute)the night I was riding with Bill and she went nuts in your car and lost her fake hair! That story makes me laugh all the time!! You continue to look after our family as I know you will this up coming year with Bill in Afghanistan and Baby Jacob on the way! Rest in peace my dear friend!

Hey buddy! Sorry I am a day late man, i got tied up with my Afghanistan training and didn't realize what the date was. Man, I can't believe it has been 5 years already. Seems like it was just yesterday i got the news. A lot has happened since I last talked to you buddy. Casey has been in preterm labor for over a week now. Jacob will be here real soon man. I really wish you could meet him when he gets here. I will make sure he knows who you are though don't worry about that. My training has been real tough I have to admit. I just want to get it over with and get over to Afghanistan and kick some butt. I know you will be watching over me so I am not scared at all. I really miss you man. I wish I had you back home to look after Casey while I'm gone. But I know you will be watching over her and Jacob. Well, take care Keith. Thanks for everything you tought me about being a good person. I hope I can be a better father because I knew you. Talk to you soon brother.

Hi Keith. I thought about you most of the day on Monday. It is hard to believe that it has been four years. God needed a special angel on May 4th, 2005 and that was you. Thank you for being the wonderful person you were to so many in your short life. You will always be in my heart, no matter what the future brings to the ones left behind.

I was visiting a friend in NC this weekend and, on the way there, I passed over a bridge that was named in your honor. I wrote down your name so I would remember to come here and look you up and educate myself on how your tour of duty was ended. Obviously you were through very highly of and still are to this day. Thank you for all you did in serving your community.

Hi Sweetie,

Your presence was greatly missed during the holiday. I miss my little buddy in the kitchen. I still have several ornaments that I place on my tree every year to represent your place that you will always hold in my heart.

There is not a day that goes by that something, someone, or a song reminds me of you. God has a very special angel with him and I know that you are doing great work for him. Keep a close eye on all those that love you and hold your memory in their hearts....

Byron
You payed the ultimate price doing what you loved protecting your family, friends and community.
It is sad that as time passes your reflections get shorter and farther in between as people move on with their lives. Sir you were a true hero taken away to early in your life. You will always be in my prayers.

Dear Officer,

To see a Memorial Highway.......is always sad. Because it means that someone has left his/her loved ones here below. I am a truckdriver by trade and today as I traveled home from Little River, SC.......I seen the sign. I would like for your fellow workers in blue to know that we are not all alike. Some of us follow every single speed limit and every single law. I would like to take the time to thank every D.O.T.,Sheriffs Deputy, City Officers and all law enforcement across this nation, for getting up and putting on the badge of courage and bravery for U.S. Citizens. To the family of Mr. Cannon, I am so so sorry for your loss.

Sincerely
Ms. Ray Winston GA

It is always sad to see a memorial highway....that means that someone has left us here below. Today as I travled from Little River, Sc. I seen the memorial sign on the side of the highway........I would like for his fellow co-workers to know that not all truck drivers are alike. Some of us actually obey all the laws and have respect for people like Mr. Cannon. I just want to say to all the D.O.T, Sheriff's Depts, Police Depts, across this nation "Thank you for the brave and stressful job you do every day to keep all of us motorist safe, May God bless all of you and keep you in his care."

Sincerely,

Keith,

I think of you often and that tragic day. It has taken me this long to openly deal and speak of your accident and that day.

I remember those days of sitting in our office and wishing and dreaming of better things and a prosperous future. Many days we discussed the future and the possibility of becoming Federal Agents. Well brother, I have done it, and not without thoughts of you throughout all of my training and new career endeavor. The things I have accomplished and the place I am now in life I do owe to you.

I came back to Columbia last weekend and stopped for a time at that tragic spot on I-20. I was then and I am now at a loss for words to truly express the sorrow and grief I feel for you and your family. I said a prayer for you and your family.

May you be at peace.
You will never be forgotten.
Your friend,
Chris
