Thank you to all who have left such wonderful reflections. John was part of an old time Pittsburg family who carried on the rich traditions of the region in the areas of railroad work (their Dad), law enforcement (John), professional baseball (Tim), switch board operator (Margaret), care givers (Mary & Evelyn), local constable (Frank), and community supporters (all). Thank you for honoring John for his service.

To Officer John Buckley and those who care for his memory:
It has been more than seventy one years since your tragic death, but please know that your memory is honored and revered today. I am glad that your name will be engraved on the wall the same year as Larry's will. All those attending for Larry will also be there to remember and honor you.
Officer Jenkins, many years ago you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.
This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.
Rest in Peace, Officer Buckley. I am humbled by your valor, courage, and dedication.
This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Officer Buckley gave to his community and the citizens of California, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 13, 1935.

To Officer Buckley:
You died seventy years ago in the line of duty in Pittsburg. You were the first Pittsburg officer to be killed.
Sadly, two officers who followed in your footsteps since were also fatally shot. My son, Larry Lasater, was the third Pittsburg officer to die in the line of duty. The family members of the second officer who died have been so supportive to us since Larry died. The Dept. has cared for us all so lovingly...they have done you proud. I hope that your family had the same support that we have experienced. You are not forgotten, Officer Buckley. There is also a blue candle being lit for you.
It is nice to think that you are a hero in heaven and you were there to welcome Ray and Larry.
