Reflections for Police Officer Larry Elwood Lasater, Jr.

There has been such a problem with postings, but I will keep on until one gets through.
Phyllis thank you for your last note on Matt's site, I hope you always know that you and Larry are always in my thoughts. I would love to have your email address so we can chat every now and then.
On this memorial day I know your heart is so full of memories of Larry and the wonderful life he lived, and the love that is his legacy forever.

With love,

For Larrys mother, you commented on my friends site. Thank you for that. I am terribly sorry for your loss of your son. Just from the short blib on what occurred, it sounds like he was cared about his community and country, as he served both. I hope that you find peace from this loss.

I will give him and all fallen officers high regards, as they have paid the ultimate price. Semper Fi.

LL,

I cannot believe it has been 4 years.

It is very difficult when on one hand I am very sad and angry about how you were taken from us, and then on the other hand.....I am so grateful to have met such a great friend and special man.

I was thinking this week of all the great memories you left with me including the visits to 7-11 on graveyards with the us for "snacks", our late night conversations about family, breakfast together the next morning once off duty, the fantasy football league drafts you put together, the BBQ‘s and many beers and laughs we all shared with you. I think of you everyday of my life, and miss him very much.

When I think of what inspires me, there is one name that screams loud and clear….Larry Lasater. Larry you inspire me every day to be a better father, a better husband, a better police officer and a better friend. Your genuine personality, strong work ethic, family values and patriotic spirit always set the bar for me and continue to do so.

Larry, I will be forever grateful for the sacrifice you made 4 years ago, and we will never forget. You and your family are always in our prayers.

Officer Lasater, today marks the 4th anniversary of your murder. It is with sadness awe I read the reflections left by your mother on these pages. She has devoted herself to preserving the memories of so many officers who have fallen. I cannot see where she might get the energy, other than having you standing by her urging her on. She is a hero for so many reasons and you both should be proud of each other.

God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.

Thinking of you and all of your loved ones on this day. I know the daily struggle your loved ones deal with, especially your Mom. I know she will forever carry your loving memory in that special place in her heart and that the first thing she thinks of each morning when she awakes is of you and the last thought of the day just before she drifts off to sleep is of you. Come to her in her dreams and let her feel your presence so that she knows you are there watching over her and all of your loved ones. You will never be forgotten.

I started coming to ODMP to visit another officer and started reading all the other officers stories as well. I notice that your mom leaves messages on as many memorial as she can, so on this day your 4th anniversary in heaven I wanted to visit your page so that your mom knows you are still remembered, even by strangers thousands of miles away. So today, I think of your mom, your wife, your son and the rest of your family, and want them to know that you are not... and never will be forgotten. RIP hero! Gone but never forgotten...

Four years ago today was the worst day of my life...when I learned that my you, my cherished youngest son, had been shot. Every moment, every word, every emotion is forever seared in my mind. We have all wept rivers of tears for you, recited precious memories, agonized over your loss and lamented the fact you are not here to parent Cody.
What a beautiful life the three of you would have had.

I pray for the day we can all be together again. Until then watch over us, especially your wonderful son and wife.

Today I sprinkled flowers on the trail, hallowed ground because it is where you fell.

I will always love you with all my heart. Thank you for being my son.

Mrs. Lasater
I just wanted to say THANKS for the kind words you wrote on my nephew Sgt Jeremy Newchurch's memorial page. Jeremy was the son I never had and I had a big role in his up bringing. There was never a day in his short 31 yrs that I didn't see or talk to him. I will keep your son in my prayers as I pray for Jeremy daily. Thanks again. You will never know just how much those kind words meant to me.

Cody and I decorated eggs last night and he was so excited this morning to hunt for them. I thought of you the entire time. He told me over breakfast "I can feel daddy and I can feel heaven."

We brought you flowers and then had dinner with my parents, sisters and the boys. Cody had fun with his big cousins. I remember our last Easter together with my sisters and their families. I had no idea that would be our last.

Missing you more and more.

Love you

Another Easter without you. I am thinking about all the Easter dinners our family enjoyed together... about the Easter egg hunts when you and James were little kids...about your thoughtfulness in inviting a college friend for Easter dinner when his own family was in Europe. Cody had his picture taken with the Easter bunny and he looks like you in a similar photo. But in your own words, you are still with us, in our hearts and souls.

Yaniza and I shared memories of you yesterday and she cried about the last time she saw you...she had convinced herself you were going to make it and recover and she didn't realize when she left your ICU room, that was the last time she was going to see you. You are loved and missed by so many. Until we are together again, you remain my cherished son.

Loving you forever and a day

Mrs Loya, thank-you so much for the kind words you left on my husband's page. The memory and ache never goes away, it just gets a bit easier to deal with as each year goes by. I am so very sorry for the loss of your son. I cannot begin to imagine what it would be like to loose a child.

Larry, continue to watch over your mother and family. I know you are...as I know my husband continues to watch over us.
