Reflections for Police Officer Larry Elwood Lasater, Jr.
I have just lost my husband on the line of duty. It will be hard in this time of grief. Just remember all the good time you had with him. Be strong for your children. No word can comfort you. RIP Office Lasater, if you see my husband – Please tell him I love him.

I am not an officer but somebody that considers officers, like the brave men and women of our military to be heroes. I was deeply saddened and troubled by the loss of this officer. He not only patrolled rough neighborhoods, but served as a Marine for 6 years. There is no sense in making sense out of this, but one thing is fairly certain, 4,000 officers came to his memorial and that illustrates the obvious bond with which officers all accrossed this country share. Just know, please, that not only officers share the sorrow of this loss.

I recently went through the tragic nightmare of loosing one of my good friends, Sgt Howie Stevenson at Ceres Police Department. I understand what the department is going through. I want to express my deepest sympathies to the family, friends and co-workers of Officer Lasater. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. Be there for eachother and help eachother through these rough times. It is hard, but it must be done.
God Bless!

Another one, young and brave, taken by the useless in society. The Bible says the "sun shines on the wicked just as it does on the righteous"-the only difference is that the righteous welcome the days in the sun.God give strength to your family ,Officer Lasater and may he rest your soul in eternal sunlight.........

My deepest condolences to the Lasater family. In my 12 years as an officer I have attended to many funerals too count, but this was the hardest one I ever attended.
After Larry was killed it was probably 2 days before I saw his picture or read his name in the paper. But when I did, my heart sank.
I knew Larry from UC Davis and was quite good friends with him and his fraternity brothers. There probably wasn't a week that I didn't hang out with Larry.
Unfortunately like many college friends, we lost touch after school. I knew about his interest in the military, but I did not know that he had become a police officer.
Every time an officer falls in the line of duty, we lose a brother or sister. But this time, Larry really was a brother.
Just know that the boys wearing blue in Berkeley and your Chi Phi brothers will miss you and we thank you for serving us. Home and abroad.
Some gave all.
God bless you Larry.

To the family of Officer Lasater,
I am so sorry for the loss of Larry. I, too lost a family member in the line of duty in 2001. He, too was shot needlessly. I still miss him everyday, but they are heroes. His final gift of organ donation in turn let many live. I will keep Larry in my prayers and you as well. God be with you. His unborn child will always know its father was true hero. I will not forget his ultimate sacrifice.

Rest in peace brother, as you now guard the gates to heaven.
On the 7th day, as you know, God rested. But on the 8th day, at 0730, God looked down upon the earth and was not happy! So he thought about his labors, and in his divine wisdom God created a divine creature. And he called this creature a Marine. And these Marines, whom God had created in his own image, were to be of the air, and of the lans, and of the sea. And these he gave many wonderful uniforms. Some were green, some were blue with red trim. And in these early days, some were even a beautiful tan. He gave them practical fighting uniforms, so that they could wage war against the forces of satan and evil. He gave them service uniforms for their daily work and training. And he gave them evening and dress uniforms...sharp and stylish, handsome things, so that they might promenade with thier ladies on saturday night and impress everybody! He even gave them swords, so that people who were not impressed, could be dealt with accordingly.
And at the end of the 8th day, God looked down upon the earth and saw that is was good. But was God happy? NO! God was still not happy! Because in the course of his labors, he had forgotten one thing. He did not have a Marine uniform for himself. But he thought about it, and thought about it, and finally satisfied in knowing that, well... not everybody can be a MARINE.

I found out a few days ago from your cousin that you had passed. He spoke so highly of you, saying that although he had not seen you in years he knew how much you enjoyed being in law enforcement. My husband too was once a Marine and is now in Law enforcement and I pray that I never recieve the phone call that he will not return home. Your family is in our prayers and I know that God will be looking down on them and guiding them with his grace. I hope that they take comfort in knowing that you will be missed by those who knew you well and those who know of you and that we are all praying for your family.

Although I never met you Larry, I read the "t.t." that was sent out to all the law enforcement agencies nationwide and wanted to leave a message to you and your family.
You see, we too just laid our friend, Officer Larry Cox to rest for the same senseless reason that your family must do the same. Some scumbag shot him in the neck also.
Our families at the Ross County Sheriffs Department and the Chillicothe Police Department send out prayers to both your immediate and extended family. All the brothers and sisters in "blue" are praying for both of your families.
Please look down on both of them and help them to make it through the next couple of months. They will really need your help.
Rest easy "brother" and let us take it from here.
All our prayers are with you.
