I was instantly brought to tears as i watched the news saturday evening and heard about the incident involving officer cross and his partner. you see, i was waiting to see news about the annual police memorial ride held in atlanta that i had left only hours before. the chief of atlanta police, so genuine and sincere, spoke a few words talking about how lucky his dept. has been in that they have not had to have anyone remembered in a few years. my fiance, cole martin, is one who has been remembered the last 2 years for being killed in the line of duty. officer cross will now join the "roll call of heroes" so do not worry - he will NEVER be forgotten. for days, months, and probably years to come, you will question why for i do not think that we can possibly understand that here on earth. and people will ask how you are doing. you will answer something, mainly because you don't really know what to say. the truth is your heart hurts and it won't stop aching until you are reunited with officer cross. it's a long, hard, gruesome journey of grief, but do not ever ever feel that you are alone. GA COPS will do what they can to take care of you who have been left behind. there is also a huge family of survivors who have experienced a similar pain and agony at some point in time. all i can offer are my thoughts and prayers...and also my thanks for making the ultimate sacrifice that you never expected to have to make.

God Bless You Officer Cross, and your young children who are now without a father! I can never understand why it happens to Officers like you with young children. The damage that Coward did went way beyond what most people could understand. It's not supposed to happen that way but it does time and time again. And we seem to keep asking why. Your entire family at home and with APD will be in our prayers.
My hats off to the other Officers with you that took care of business!
God Speed Officer Cross. To every Officer that happens to read this post stay safe.

Ofc. Cross,
I remember your tenacity and excitement for the job when you first came out of the Academy. You were a heck of an officer, and even more impressive as a father. I couldn't believe this when I heard about it. Rest easy now though, your watch is over. God bless, and I'll see you again.
