Reflections for Police Officer Larry Randolph Cox
For those of you who didnt have a chance to meet Larry, you dont know what you missed. Larry was one of the greatest guys in the world. Larry was always the first one in try to help anyone in need, he was the first one to make you laugh, he was good at everything he did. Larry has a son, Evan and he will grow up to be exactly like his dad. He has all of the same qualities as his daddy.
I look at this web site daily but never thought that I would ever leave a reflection. Larry has been gone only a few days and it still doesnt seem real. Its still hard to look at the newspaper and listen to the radio.
Larry you dont even know the impact that you had on everyone you met. I promise in the next race I will try to root the 24 car on just for you. But only this one time.
I miss you buddy and wish we had a little more time.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free!
I followed the plan God laid for me.
I saw his face, I heard his call.
I took his hand and left it all
I could not stay another day
To love, to laugh, to work or play;
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
And if my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I, too, shall miss
My life's been full I've savored much:
Good times, good friends, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Dont shorten yours with undue grief.
Be not burdened with tears of sorrow.
Enjoy the sunshine of tomorrow
Rest in peace brother
My prayers are with your family
