The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

Ralph,
I must start by telling you how proud I am how you lived your life. You were an awesome father, who gave all he had to his family.
I regret that the patrol called you on that fateful morning. I honor and admire your response to that call and thank you for your dediciation. I am sadden for your family, friends and co-workers. Please watch over the rest of us, while we try to keep this country safe for our us to raise our children as well as your children. Thank you for your smile, only you could light of the room without saying a word. Ralph, rest in peace for you have earned a seat beside God. You will be missed by many.

My heart breaks for you and your family. My son also had three young children. I will have you in my prayers.
This poem gives me comfort and I hope it will do the same for you.
Our Family Chain
We little knew that morning,
God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly.
In death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
You did not go alone.
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
You left us beautiful memories,
Your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you,
You are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

God Bless you Trooper Tatoian,
You are now an Angel with my son'
