Uncle Doogy,
I miss you every day, and think about you all the time. We still keep in touch with aunt jill and the boys, i know that if you were still here we would be together more. I see you in them, and i know that mom does to and i think it helps her to continue on. Its been 6 years but it doesnt seem that long. I just want you to know i still have my monkey that you bought for me, and i will keep it forever. I love you, and cant wait for the day that i will see you again where angels sing.
Goodbye for now...

Miss you Kurt. It is still very hard 6 years later to deal with April 9, 2005. I will never forget the phone call in the middle of the night from Bayless. To this day, I remember his exact words when he called me. R.I.P. and keep an eye over everyone.

It has been six years today. Time continues to tick away but your memory is still strong. As like every year my friend I will come see you on this day. Tears will be shed, smiles from great times will return but all-in-all I will leave the same way I came, humbled to have known you. Keep us safe until our time comes to see you again. RIP Kurt, may God watch over your faimily.

I swore silently that "when" I got back in, I'd stop to visit. That day came and I fulfilled my promise. I can still see the gleam in your eyes and that crooked smile that made those same eyes squint. Okay, so it didn't work out the way we planned on this earth - but someday, you will work for me in heaven! See you on the other side, brother.

I remember thinking, "will I still feel this way in five years?" Yes, I do. The pain of losing you and watching you die is just as sharp. I'm sure it will be this way until I join you. Until then, your'e just as close as a prayer.

Kurt,
It's been 5 years today since you were taken from us. Although I never had a chance to know you, I think about you daily. Karla has been doing GREAT things in your memory. She helped create a group for students who are interrested in careers in law enforcement to explore what law enforcement is really about. Although the department has had some changes over these past 5 years, some of the boys you worked with that day are still around and help train the group Karla helps with.

Today the department will host an event in your memory. In the coming years we hope to invite your past departments you worked for, brother. We all know you would have loved the event we are having which is why we chose it for today.

Please be with us in every call we take and guide us safely back home at the end of our shift and should we need to visit you, please guide us along that way as well.

Rest in Peace, brother, rest in peace.

Harvey County Sheriff's Office

Well it has been 5 years since you left us. Kurt there is not a singal day or night that goes by I don't think about you. I will never forget the night you told me I should apply when I was just a reserve Officer. You told me I would fit in great. That night as I was watching the house, you and Chris walked up to me. We spoke for a few minutes, we knuckled up and you said "Talk to ya in a bit bro" and you were off to do what you do. When I heard the shots ring out, I did not know what to do as I was just a 6 week rookie in FTO. I remember thinking run and I did. I ran to the gun fire to help out where ever I was needed. Later after he gave himself up, one of my FTO's told me you would have been proud. In the short 5 years you have been gone, I am still a Police Offcer and will retire a Police Officer. I just hope I will be able accomplish all the things you did. You were one of the finest men anyone could have met and I thank you.
