Police Officer's Prayer to Saint Michael
Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premisesof all its undesirables, look with kindly and professionaleyes on your earthly force.
Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.
Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.
You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences with the devil, that the police officer's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.
And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all the people. Amen.
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY
A BROTHER

Steven,
On Tuesday April 8th, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. there was a gravesite memorial service to remember you. The Chief, your brothers and sisters in blue were there to remember you, all wearing black mourning bands on there badges. There also were some firemen, friends and family members there as well. It was so good to see all of them and it was nice to see how they remembered their fallen brother. It is nice to see the Police Cars with your Memorial Star on them honoring you. We feel that you are always with them keeping watch over them on every call.
We Love and Miss you Steven, you are "Our Special Angel".
Keep and eye On all of us and especially Your Andrew and John.
All Our Love,
Mom,Dad and George

It's hard to believe that you have been gone from us three years today. It seems like just yesterday that you were walking the halls of the P.D. We all cherish the memories you left us and talk about you all the time. Thanks again for being you. You and Tommy keep us safe on the streets. We love and miss you both!!!

Steve,
Three years today. Time doesn't heal all wounds. I'm still so sad, but so grateful for the time we had together. I was hoping to make it out to the cemetary today, but it looks like I won't be able to. I hope you know that I am thinking of you today, as I do everyday. And I know you are watching over us. We love you and miss you so much.

Thank you for watching over us and being our Angel.

Hi Steve, I miss you buddy. I think about you and pray for you all the time. The pin w/your picture is a fixture on the visor of my squad. I recently attended a class at the academy and I couldn't get you off my mind. It was hard walking the halls w/out you there. I just wanted to let you know. Keep watching over your family, friends, and brothers/sister in blue. God Bless you......

Steve,
I only had a short time to get to know you. I remember interviewing you for your spot on the NORTAF forensics unit, and how excited you were to finally get assigned. I was lucky enough to have you on my team, and your enthusiasm and dedication to the job were infectious. No matter how bad the task, you never seemed down about it. Thank you. Keep watch over us.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
