Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Kevin Scott Kight

A tremendous and tragic loss to all of our law enforcement family. It is sad that such a wonderful person and father is killed while trying to make our community a safer place to live and work for all.

I have travelled to Panama City Beach on a regular basis for the last 5 years and my family still winters there. We always feel extremely safe and well served by the members of the Panama City Beach Police Department and other law enforcement officers in the area. Thank you for a job well done to all the members of "the beach police".

Kevin was and is a true hero, who gave his life so that we can live in peace and safety, may you rest in peace, Kevin. You will always be remembered a hero.

To Kevins' family, my family and fellow officers in this area of Canada, want you to know that we feel your pain. Just know that Kevin, your husband and father, has touched many people and will be remembered around the world as a gentleman and a hero.

God bless Kevins family and all of our brothers and sisters who risk thier lives each and every day to protect us from the people who really don't deserve to live amongst us in our safe and secure communities.

I never knew you,
But we are brothers,
I never met you,
But we are brothers,
Our paths never crossed,
But we are brothers,
I have never patrolled in your town,
But I know we have been on duty together,
just in another town.
And we are brothers.
And as a brother,
I feel the pain,
I feel the hurt,
And I feel the sadness that only a brother can undergo.
The sacrifices that each of us make everyday in nothing compared to the one you and your fellow officers have accepted.
One that everyone one of us is aware could happen
Any day, any moment, any second.
You have made me proud,
You have made my job easier because
I am more aware.
I am more cautious
And I will never forget you.
May God hold you in his hand and have you rest in peace.

To the wife of the investigator that send her husband out for this search for the suspect, I feel your pain. 2 years ago one of the deputies here in Greenville County was shot and killed on a Sunday afternoon. We were at my father in laws house and my husband heard it on the scanner and went running out and left me and our son there. To make things more interesting, the officer that was shot and killed was from Panama City and we were to leave for Panama City Beach for vacation the following day. As my husband left, I was mad that he left us there and then I also understood why he needed to go. We as wifes have such a hard job too but our husbands have the worse job of all and I personally want to tell mine I love him with all my heart and I am so proud of the job he does. Not to many people in this world can do a job like theirs. My thoughts and prayers go out to this grieving family and your agency. And Sgt. Kight, my you rest in peace and watch over us all.

Upon the markers of their graves
Our heroes etched in names we save
For all the life they gave with pride
To keep the peace within life's stride

To honor serve and do their best
To keep us safe through any quest
They gave up what was theirs to share
Their spirits shall be always near

No fear within the hearts and minds
To keep us safe within our times
The glory that is ours to see
Those special hearts of bravery

They have walked where no man dare
Their lives in danger with no care
For they have given all they could
For their courage we have stood

In awe of every one who gave
His life for others who they saved
So we will know their contribution
Their firm resolve and resolution

For those they left with hearts so broken
In every whispered word that's spoken
We bow our heads in confirmation
In every word life's revelation

Those who stand within their shoes
Will follow courage as they choose
And give to all the best they had
They carry on with spirits glad

We will know that they walked through
With colors bright and hearts so true
No Island stands alone they say
For heroes they are born this way

Protecting those with loyalty
A glimpse of so much royalty
Within the years of courage bound
These officers have earned their crown

Upon the earth we shall remember
The special goals and all their thunder
That proves a hero came our way
Who left their hearts on earth to stay.

No words can mend a greiving heart, to SGT Kights family. I read his story, and did the same thing, to go back on streets, after being a detective. It hits home. All of us in Law Enforcement, not matter how man or women enough we are, we always cry a tear when we hear about this. All I can say, is we are always here for you, and your family, Ms. Kight, and everyone that went before him. I feel your pain, as we all do, but there is a reason for everything. You and I do not know at this time what the reason is.

God Bless and Keep You. You will ever be in our hearts.
All the Members of my Department are keeping you in our prayers.

A TRIBUTE TO SGT. KEVIN KIGHT

WHY ARE WE MOURNING LATE EASTER EVENING

WE HAVE FAITH IN A HIGHER POWER TO SOME THAT MAY SEEM ODD

Dear Law Enforcement, Friends & Family of Sgt. Kight,

I always worry when my kids go out to the beach, but am content to know that men and women in blue are there to protect them and keep order.

This incident hit home, because this was one of those men that I knew would be there for my children and myself. If this person would do this terrible thing to a beloved police officer, what would he have done to a normal person on the beach.

God bless Mrs. Kight and your son, I have three sons, I could not imagine your loss.

My thoughts and prayers are with you daily.

As one of the many metro officers who vacation in the Panama City Beach,we often forget that the danger of the job is every where.I have had the opportunity to meet several of the beach cops in the last few years and have been very impressed.I can't say anything that will ease the pain of this murder of one of our own. I do know this that if Kevin had a personal relationship with our savior he is now waiting to see us all and most especially his family and friends.May God comfort you the rest of your days.

My family's thoughts and prayers are with Sgt. Kight and his young family. I didn't know Kevin well but the loss of a fellow Officer has affected me none the less. I want everyone to know that Sgt. Kevin Kight will never be forgotten. One hundred years fom now his name will still be spoken and heralded, his memorial will still hang in the halls of the Panama City Beach Police Department and elsewhere to always be remembered. He will go down in the annals of history as a TRUE HERO, for laying down his precious life so that others might sleep in peace. And also know that the person who took his life WILL be forgotten, never to be remembered, and rightly so. He will continue to be the invisible, nameless face that fades into darkness never to be spoken of again. The bright light of Sergeant Kevin Kight's life and exemplary public service will shine brightly forever more.
