Reflections for Sergeant Carl Dewayne Graham, Jr.
My heart and prayers are with the parents, family, friends, coworkers, but most of all to the young son left behind. May he know always that his daddy is a true hero and will not be forgotten. May God bless you all in this terrible time of loss. Rest in peace Sergeant and continue your watch on much safer streets above.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to the Graham family and the troopers and staff of the Missouri State Highway Patrol over the tragic loss of Sgt. Carl Graham. Once again a coward has taken the life of another brother officer from the thin blue line. May God bless the Graham Family and the troopers and staff of the Missouri State Highway Patrol during this very sad time. May our brother Carl rest in peace. Carl will now patrol the streets of Heaven with St. Michael and his angels. Never forget the fallen hero!

A PIECE OF AMERICA DIED
Somebody killed a Policeman today
and a piece of America died
A piece of our country he swore to protect
will be buried with him... at his side
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court
with counsel demanding his rights
while a young widowed mother must work for her kids
and spend many long, lonely nights
The beat that he walked was a battlefield too
just as if he had gone off to war
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half staff
to his name they will add a gold star
Yes, somebody killed a Policeman today
It happened in your town or mine
While we slept in comfort, behind our locked doors
a Cop laid his life on the line
Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street
and he stands at each new rookie's side
He answered the call, and gave us his all
and a piece of America died

Rest in peace, brother. Thank you for your service. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
No words can express the pain felt by the family of blue when one of our own is taken from his family by a coward. The pain is tenfold when the coward lies in wait for a warrior to return to the one place where he should be able to let his guard down a little.
Although you departed in such a sudden and violent manner, rest easy as you enter Paradise. You have truly earned your place among the warriors of justice who have been called before you. Watch over your son and the rest of your family and keep them safe. Let them find solace in knowing that you are a hero and now a guardian angel.
Pass the sword and we will carry it with pride, honor and integrity as we continue to fight the battle here. Know that we will keep you and all of those dear to you in our prayers.
Godspeed!

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.
There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"
