Your heroism and service is honored today, the 78th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. You will always be remembered and revered.

my memory is vague but i recall when people talked about that incident. johnnie is the only sherrif lost in the line ofduty. i am distantly related to johnnie. in that time was we had no electricity no tv no running water/ telephone were the winding kind 1 LONG 3 SHORT CRANK. the news was primarily carried by word of mouth. something of this nature would be talked repeatedly in this little back county of eastern ky. hope this will be of interest of those who for of history of the era are interested
