Reflections for Patrolman Thomas Drumane Catchings
"Weepimg may endure for a night, but joy commeth in the morning." I may be young, and may not understand quite why, but I do know that this Man (Officer Thomas Catchings) was a true warrior, not only for his City but for Christ. Even though I know you're gone, but I know you left a remarkable mark on the city. Even though I've never met you, I know from what everyone says you are a Great Man, that served his community well. To the family, everything is going to be fine, keep your head up, and stay strong. Remember here in the city, we will always stick together. If you need anything just call on us, will be there.

This reflection is dedicated to my Loving Cousin and his wife Pat, I was not able to be at the funeral today to say my goodbyes but I want Pat to know that I am with her in spirit I loved Thomas, Shante' and Deante very much and I want everyone to know that a sweet and loving Man has been called to God's Kingdom and he will be missed. My Daughter Shemika loved him best because she wanted a Limo ride for her 15th B.D. and Thomas said of course did not hesitate and he loved and enjoyed the day with a bunch of gabbing girls. I remember him best when he gave me my first motorcycle ride standing around with our friends Bo-Ed and Dywane. I loved him because he was always a happy person never seen him with a frown on his face. I'll miss as well and I just wanted Pat and the Famil to know I Love them and my Prayers are with them. Love your cousin Shelia Catchings-Taylor

I am so sorry I didn't get a chance to know you even when we went to school at Murrah High and graduated in 1983. But I am sure you, like I, cared for those who were not your own and you gave your life because of that caring. I will remember you and look back from time to time in the yearbook and not only wished we had been friends, but hopefully will be friends when we meet with the Lord and all of his Angels above. Don't worry about your family, they will be greatly taken care of by your best friend and mine Almighty God. Rest my classmate, rest.

My brother in blue, you walked where many fear to tread and gave what few chose to give. You fought the good fight and guarded those you swore to protect. You paid the ultimate price so that others may go about their daily lives without fear. May you find your reward for a job well done. May those who love you find comfort in the Lord and feel the pride and honor of knowing that a hero has been in their midst.

I didn't get a chance to know him really well but I do know that he was a perfect example of the question posed in an old Billy Joel song: "Why do the good die young?"
I pray for Officer Catchings family to allow God to take them through this trying time.
I also pray for the ones he left behind at the Jackson Police Department. From the Chief right down to our newest members in blue, I pray that we understand that it just could have easily been one of us instead of him.
May we be for each other...and God be with us all.

I saw the Heavens open up.
The Earth shook with Fear. For Evil, knew of God's Army.
They were Heroes, Men on Steel Horses.
Godspeed Brother.

Catchings:
It seems like we knew you all the time, (Natchez, MS); the very day you left us, I was in Jackson that same day from 8:00 to 3:00 p.m. for my sister's son doctor appointment. To arrive home later to hear the grim news of an officer killed really made my heart sank. Rest in peace until we all meet again. I will pray for your family and friends knowing that the Lord has his arms wrapped around Catchings. God Bless!

In memory of P.O. Catchings: Boy,
all these deaths are staining our
country red. It is such a tragic day
when each one falls, leaving a
heavy burden on all who remain, especially the families at home and at work. I know that criminal must have a family who mourns for him,
too, but thanks for being quick on the
trigger. You spared your family a trial
and the taxpayers alot of money. As
Easter is approaching, don't forget
Jesus' death on the Cross that secures a place in Heaven for all of
us who believe. True happiness is
seeing our Lord face to face and knowing no one can snatch us out of
His hand. May God comfort all who are grieving.

To the Family, Friends, and Co-Workers in your grief and sorrow words can not change reality, words can only provide a link between we whose hurt is less direct, and you whose hurt is personal and horrendous. Words can help assure you that others care, that you are loved, and that you are not alone. God speed Officer Catchings.

To the family, friends and co-workers my prayers are with you. The one thing that kept coming back to me during our nightmare, was knowing how much Clint loved being a police officer. The last time I saw him he told me that he had his perfect job. I know that Patrolman Catchings loved his job also, hold on to all the memories I know you have lots.
To the family, there are a lot of people who are praying for you, and a lot of families who have walked in your shoes. And we are hurting for you, and are here for you whenever you need us.
Patrolman Catchings your family will miss you everyday, but we will never forget you.
Thomas look Clint up for me tell him I love and miss him.

In order to pay my respect to all my brother and sisters who have paid the ultimate price. I check this site to pay my respects and to know who, how and why. It is always the same. The who is a loving father or mother. A loved one, brother or sister. The how is sometimes by gun fire, car accident, or plane crash. The why I already know aleady but I still look for the answers even though I know that only God has that answer and we have to trust in him and know that this officer and every other officer before him are in good hands now. May God Bless this officer's soul and bring peace and comfort to his family in their time of need. The streets above are ready for you motorman you are now ready to roll. God speed
