Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Robert Ned Clendennen
Tracing back my family heritage, my great-grandmother was a Clendennen in Limestone County. I had some great-aunts and cousins who lived in Kosse and the surrounding areas that I remember visiting when I was a kid over 50 years ago. I had no knowledge of you then, but every time I go through there now, I think of you and the ultimate sacrifice you made. My father was in law enforcement, as I have been for the past 35 years. Rest in Peace, Deputy Ned Clendennen. I look forward to meeting you on the heavenly side one day.

I'm not sure how we are related, but I know we are. My grandmother who was born in 1893 was from Limestone County and her grandmother was a Clendennen. It was by accident that I actually ran across your name. I am a detective for the Coppell, TX Police Department. I along with three other Police Officers were in Washington D. C. because we had a case to be aired on Americas Most Wanted. We decided to stop by the memorial and that was a moving moment. While I was looking through the spiral booklet at the memorial trying to locate some of the officer I knew, the pages on the spiral were blowing from one page to the next. I stopped the pages by placing my hand on the book and I saw the name Clendennen. I looked across and it said Limestone County, TX. Rest easy knowing you are not forgotten and our family still wears the blue proudly.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and thirty-fourth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.
